Because of the accident which could have been much more disastrous, Anne has Lou mentally assessed, which he resents. The assessment doesn't stop Lou's daydreams of his time as a young adult which led to the accident. Feeling stretched in her life in having to deal with Lou and getting a tearful telephone call from Maggie, Anne attempts a reconciliation of sorts with Doug on his initiative. And in visiting with Jimmy, she learns of the reconnection he has made with Lester. The one person who does not yet know of that reconnection is Ken in Lester's lies about spending time with friends down by the river and in what Ken believes are his somewhat successful attempts to bond with his nephew. And Lester's relationship with his father is what Lester believes he wants in a buddy in having no friends rather that a true parental figure.
