Cute, but overly tacky and completely lacking adventure.

Warning: Spoilers
Generally, viewers of Adventure Time like myself have come to expect the generally vibrant, fantastically incoherent and imaginatively playful scenarios which each and every episode generally creates, but this episode largely takes away from such expectations by overly focusing on an awkward love entanglement between Tree-trunks and Mr. Pig. Of course it is not without its moments, but unfortunately most viewers of this episode were probably left cringing and not with the general levels of adrenaline and awesome they would come to hope for despite the premise that the title might suggest. The constant making out between Mr. Pig and Tree-trunks became so overdone to the extent that I found myself cringing whenever I saw Tree-Trunks in future episodes.

This episode, "Dream of Love", was a cute but...oddly paced episode, with some quite adorable scenes but overall a unsatisfactory episode.

First of all, the main characters. Mr. Pig and Tree Trunks are really cute, and I do hope that they have more episodes about their relationship, just as long as the episode is not limited to them. The have a very sweet song together, and I think that they were very nice characters.

The problem was the surrounding people. The candy people and F&J had no right or reason to react like that, and this wasn't really suitable for an 11 min episode. If it was a short in "Five Short Grables". The resolution felt rushed, and considering F&J's selfish and plain annoying attitude in the beginning (only wanting pie from Tree Trunks and not caring about her relationship), I wasn't really happy about how they've changed their minds so quickly. Truthfully, in the end nothing really changed except for their opinions.

Overall, even though the episode was not what I was hoping for, there were still some good moments. I have to admit, I laughed when TT and Mr. Pig had to hide their love, and their song at the end was sugar sweet.

But really, I want to know what that "cup" movie was about.

Boring and Unnecessary

I find Tree Trunks to be pretty grating in general, and this ep is probably one of her worst. Something about the combination of the old grandma voice; a character who's only motivations are to find love, produce apple pie, and be a damsel in distress; and a character design that looks kinda... wrinkly? Just doesn't work for me.

Really one-note plot, with a pretty baffling premise (why did they think an episode about everyone being bothered by a pig and an elephant making out in front of them was a good idea?). There is no B plots or distractions from this central premise, that's reslly all there is to the episode. Also fun fact, the actor who played Tree Trunks was 82 when this aired.

Surprised about the low score

To me, this is honestly one of the most memorable episodes of early Adventure Time. It features one of the best songs of the series in my opinion and one of the most "adventure time" scenes of adventure time - I'm referring to the science concert in which Finn makes really odd sounds. I get that some don't like Tree Trunks and might find her actions in this episode to be cringy, but she in retrospect is a really intriguing character to me. However, to fully understand why one might find her interesting, you may have to watch further on into the series. Anyway, all in all this episode is great, albeit a bit childish.

Probably the worst episode of this whole series

Because of how off-brand and non-adventure-time-vibey it is. I really love this series, but with this episode they really messed it up.

They just got a completely whack angle on the whole episode. This weird shaming of the lovestory of these two loveable characters is just, really, really weird, and feels completely off. It doesn't make sense, it doesn't have any of the goofiness, any of the magic, the message is super-strange and just totally off. In general, there's always this underlaying touch of, well, exactly the opposite that everybody pushes throughout this episode. This whole series has a backdrop of a kind of innocent, childish love. They just donked it up in this one.

If I remember it right, this episode made me drop this series for quite some time many years ago. It's that kind of bad.

The episode-catalogue would be better of if this episode weren't part of it. The only episode I can think of that just feels completely wrong.
