A Good Episode That Is Another Debinking An Annoying Rumor
jeremycrimsonfox4 December 2022
Cookie Monster is a Sesame Street staple. Ever since he appeared on the show since season one, he has grown to become one of the show's most beloved Muppets. However, in 2005, controversy broke out when the show was announced to focus on healthy habits, as Cookie Monster would be in a song called "A Cookie Is A Sometimes Food". Immediately, this ruffled longtime fans' Big Bird feathers, and started the rumor that he is either being removed or renamed to Veggie Monster (which thankfully is not true, as Cookie Monster is still the cookie gobber we know and love, as past segments and even merchandise did show him eating fruit, meaning he ate more than cookies). However, internet rumors are hard to stop, so in 2012, this episode was made.

In this one, Cookie Monster is waiting for Chris to cook cookies, and to wait, he snacks on some vegetables. However, this causes Mario Lopez to come and report the Cookie Monster is now the Veggie Monster, and it's getting a lot of hits to the point where everyone is starting to believe Mario's reporting.

Wow, this is a good episode that addresses the rumor as well as. Mario Lopez's role is basically mirroring real life fans who still believe Cookie Monster is the Veggie Monster and continue to spread the rumor all over the internet (as a video of Cookie Monster eating a bowl of veggies is shown on MeTube, a parody of YouTube), causing Cookie Monster frustration, and even breaking into a song to explain "Me Am What Me Am". Seeing this, and knowing of the rumor, it makes me feel for Cookie in this situation. After that, the show has some random sketches, like Birdwalk Empire, and even a pizza-themed Elmo The Musical. A good watch if, like Cookie Monster, you are sick and tired of the Veggie Monster rumor and want it to stop once and for all.
