Hilarious, uplifting crowd-pleaser

This family comedy has it all - Truly moving performances from an ensemble cast of apparently just-discovered Cajun actors plus Mary Kay Place. The writing is snappy and clever, and the story is at once classically American, and totally unique to where it was filmed in Lafayette, Louisiana.

A lovable screw-up named Eddie is trying to redeem himself in the eyes of his family, but always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (at one point, that includes in the middle of a scandal in the Cajuns national football championship game) … And he's often accidentally dragging people into the mess with him… but he has so much heart, you're rooting for him through all the absurd things that happen. At the same time, the matriarch Mary Kay Place is trying to keep the family together, and Eddie's sister and brother-in-law are getting ready for a home birth of their baby which is a wild adventure in and of itself.

I laughed and cried, and a lot of both at the same time. Highly recommended. Bonus, awesome soundtrack and score of Cajun music i.e. the Red Stick Ramblers, David Greeley, Dirk Powell.

Fun and heartfelt comedy!

I was lucky enough to attend the premier screening last night, of this wonderful film. Beyond the fun of seeing my friends (some of whom were not actors before this) playing the starring roles, it felt real and genuine, not contrived or as it was trying too hard. The movie didn't stereotype Cajuns as often happens in the movie industry. It just felt like this could be the story of any average family who just happens to be from Lafayette, La. It was funny, touching and nicely executed. Tom Krueger and and the entire cast and crew did an excellent job on less than a shoestring budget. The inclusion of the talented Mary Kay Place in the cast, was a vital addition and likely raised the bar on the quality of the acting. I know she pushed the others to strive for their best possible work. If you get the chance, I recommend that you see it! And watch for it on Netflix soon. Oh, one more thing, the title is sheer perfection and you can only learn why if you see the movie!
