Freeze!
A scientific take on the dangers and benefits of cold on our bodies, seen through the eyes of Elina Mäkinen who is getting ready to swim a mile in the ice cold waters of Svalbard.
The documentary shows Elina in both nature and in the lab, preparing for something very few people are able to accomplish. It's a story of calculated risk management and testing your limits but it's also an exploration into what makes this possible.
The film offers new insights (e.g. The importance of brown fat and the use of cooling/heating in medical operations) and it does so in an entertaining manner. Elina explains how the hardest part is not the swim itself but the recovery afterwards.
Highly recommended.
