Absolute Delight
alserrano24 January 2013
One of those episodes that I have to see again and again for the pure pleasure it is, it's wonderful at so many levels that makes me think that when The Good Wife is good, it's my favorite show. Many stories go at the same time: there is a wonderful dialog about racial bias with the Peter subplot, but the heart of the episode is at Elsbeth Tascioni, one of the better recurring characters of the show, which makes the whole firm move to defend her case as she is that brilliant lawyer.

Maybe you could criticize "Je ne sais what" for being too safe for the characters: they almost have no danger and they do not face any of the usual contradictions; in fact, the only character that actually suffers is Will, gloriously out of his field in a sport tribunal. The rest is the usual "two simultaneous trials" format that this show has taken in the last weeks, but the difference is in the craft: screwball rhythm, memorable punchlines, and great characters as the European tribunal that speak in french. Also great editing, lighting and composition, and the usual great dressing, but above it all, the sense that all the characters are alive, doing what they do best, and taking care of each other. The last minutes of the show were wonderful, with Tascioni running and being brilliantly manipulative with the tribunal. She's so charismatic, so funny, so lovable that she deserves a spin off. 10/10

While cooking breakfast and having sex dreams at the same time. Alicia then gets a call from Elsbeth Tascioni because Alicia is needed as help. Zack calls Eli to tell him about Maddie maybe having the black vote by using race issues. Maddie making a speech and the room seems to like her. Peter and her then talk about debates and how much they will do. Alicia arrives to meet with Elsbeth who is arrested because of following someone to their car. Will then has to take over Elsbeth's case while Elsbeth is arrested. The case Will then has to work on involves a runner who did not get paid for a commercial she did. The client then is not allowed to go to her race because her test results came back positive for drugs. Elsbeth thinks she was arrested so she could not go to her case. Alicia then asks to get her transported but Elsbeth first has to take a psych test. Will then has to go to a hearing for his runner client but has trouble when french is spoken a lot. After the hearing does not seem to go well Will calls in Diane to help with french translation. Alicia talks to Elsbeth about the test which seems to help her understand how the questions are asked. Peter meets with Geneva Pine who says he is racially biased especially when it comes to people he works with and how he did not choose to go to a function dealing with race. Diane after talking to Elsbeth's client thinks that she is hiding something. Elsbeth while in her psych test then out of nowhere announces her client could be pregnant which could have affected her test results. The client does not want to talk about her pregnancy so they have to find a different approach. Alicia calls Peter for help but since he had Elsbeth working for him once before he cannot say anything. When Will and Diane's case does not go well Kalnda goes to talk to Elsbeth about some of her unreadable notes. Elsbeth while behind bars seems to act even more crazier. At the black conference Peter says some words that do not go over well with the crowd. Jordan was then proved right that Peter should not have said anything. Peter then returns to his bus and Alicia is waiting to sleep with him. Will and Diane need Elsbeth on their case and after some trouble she is able to go to her bond hearing. She is late running across the track field causing a lot of noise. Elsbeth once she arrives calls a new witness to be heard and after this witness talks which causes the three judges to fight about their country issues. Eli does not like using Jordan but he knows t will help Peter. Eli then comes to Alicia's firm looking for some help from Elsbeth with his investigation going on. Great episode and once again Carrie Preston is better on this show then True Blood. She is a delight and this time we got to understand her character better and once again she knocked it out of the park. Everything gelled so well.

EPISODE GRADE: B+ (MVP: Carrie Preston)

Weak 4.12 **1/2

Warning: Spoilers
Weakest episode of this acclaimed series so far.

The sidebar story of Peter Florrick being accused of racial bias in hiring practices at the State Attorney General's office would have been far better.

Instead, we were subjected to a contractual dispute with possible doping, until it's determined that the pills was for the girl's pregnancy. The so-called brilliant lawyer, who is quite a character at best, is becoming very annoying. She is the one with the read hair and the show would be wiser to dispense with her.

Everyone seems to be under investigation. Let's investigate why 4.12 was made all together.
