I am a big POI fan, loving the edge and humor of each episode. However, last night's One Per Cent was a disappointment. Overall quality was above most everything else on TV right now, but not quite up to POI's excellent standard. I couldn't get into the story until it was almost half done. Even the humor between Mr. Reese and Mr Finch seemed strained. Perhaps that is because the last 4 episodes were so incredible that anything that followed was bound to be a bit of a letdown. Mr. Reese was irritated by the POI, more so than I have noticed him in the past. One of the best scenes occurred between Mr. Reese and Mr. Finch, when John explained to Harold that he was not quite himself because of spending all that time at Rykers, then being captured by Kara, wearing a bomb vest, almost getting blown up, etc. Bear had the mopes as well. Another fun scene was when Mr. Reese, in his roll as a very rich hedge fund manager, bid $10 million of Mr. Finch's money for a box of Einstein's letters to get the POI's attention. We didn't get any reaction shot after the bid, it just dropped. The POI character was really irritating, which he was supposed to be, but there were so many others it got confusing. I wondered who wrote and directed this episode because it was so different from POI normal; if he does anymore episodes he needs to understand that the strength of this show is the depth of the characters, and their interaction with each other. Missed Det. Carter interacting with Mr. Reese - they clearly love each other, but they don't realize it yet, and it has yet to be defined if it is romantic or friend love. Hopefully next episode, on Valentine's Day, will be back to POI standards.
