Going for the Gold ****

Warning: Spoilers
Still another excellent episode where Cary is forced to show some humility after Alicia takes less money so that Cary and others don't have to lose theirs.

Eli Gold resigns when he is accused of corruption in the Florrick campaign. Things really boomerang when Peter's stroke victim mother is called to testify. She literally tells the truth all the way.

The Florrick debate is really something to watch. Told to lay low, Pete comes out swinging when prodded to do so by Alicia, and a phone call put in to Gold demands the same thing of him.

Looks like Diane is going to be called to testify against Mr. Gold. By the episode's end, a grateful Peter asks Gold to return.

I loved the way Pete's mother explained that Jewish stuff while on the witness stand.

Warning: Spoilers
The show is firing on all cylinders lately and this episode is another example of how great the show is doing in everything really. From the guest stars like Carrie Preston and Kyle MacLaine playing off each other they are doing such a great job overall. The writing of the episode is strong and even bringing back in Jackie did not make me cringe like last times because she was barely featured and she was not a confused old women or a tough mother in law fighting with Alicia. The political part of the episode was the weakest even though I did like the debate scene seeing Peter and Maddei go up against each other with the help of Eli. Little scenes between Laura and Will made no sense to me as these characters have never seemed like a couple to be and it seems he is going after her because Alicia turned him down. The show is doing such a great job even when some of their guest starts are wasted such as Lily Rabe and S. Epathan Merkensen who barely were featured almost forgettable if I was not familiar with them.

EPISODE GRADE: B+ (MVP: Carrie Preston)
