A little hard to believe in parts, but entertaining drama.

Maya spots the red Volkswagen outside the arcade, and tries to track it down, but the car proves illusive. Claire's kids start their own investigation into their mother's past.

Ok, so you definitely need to suspend your disbelief somewhat here, the helicopter sequences were a little hard to come to terms with, and that welcome robot was a bit dense, but overall, a pretty good episode, not as sharp as the first two, but still very watchable.

I'm starting to get vibes of a BBC drama, The Capture, was Joe's image on the video something to do with image altering technology?

Adeel Akhtar is continuing to steal this for me, I think the guy is just great.

We finally learn a but more about Maya's past, and what she did.

Where's the poor guy in the helicopter?

Good story - everyone's still suspect - but why the plot hole?

Warning: Spoilers
Love Harlan Coben's books - there's always a good story. His daughter's screen play fits tv pretty well, if you can excuse the usual steps that normal people wouldn't do*.

So far, the storyline is intriguing. Joe apparently is alive (the video was erased by the nannie), the police are on the take, the in-laws seem to be in on it (actually, definitely are, since the $ is from them).

I'm not dismissing the main character - (the lovely and elegant Michele Keegan - why haven't we seen more of her?) either. She's evasive at best, and lied to police about # of pistols she has

* - No highly trained pilot would blab in front of a customer, nor take him on her stalking ride. Note to Charlotte Coben - she could have taken over control for 'trying something after feeling a wobble', then come back later with a car and backup. This would not have alerted those of us with over-alert sensibilities.

"Episode #1.3"
allmoviesfan19 February 2024
As noted by other reviewers, you need to take 'Fool Me Once' with a grain of salt. It's all a little too preposterous for words - for example, using a helicopter to tail a car - but suspend disbelief and enjoy the twists and turns.

The show is expert at building up the tension and drama before dropping a couple of pretty big bombshells in the last 1-2 minutes before an episode ends. Episode 1.3 was no different. (It reminds me of the countless end-of-episode cliffhangers in "24" from way back in the day.) No wonder people binge these shows. I wish I could!

But...what I really want to know is whether or not the trainee pilot made it back for his dental appointment?

Maya's Secret Gun

Warning: Spoilers
This Episode begins with Maya, she wants to know from Judith why she is paying Detective Kierce. Maya follows the red car, she got followed by that car last time. Maya discovered that Corey the Whistle is the owner of the red car. Maya and Corey have a conversation about Joe and Claire their deaths. Abby gets Alexander his number, he is an old friend of her mother Claire. Maya and Shane are practicing their skills at the shooting range. Maya sees that Lily is gone, what is going on. Maya grabs her gun. Solid Episode of Fool Me Once, really Solid but not great. The story is not realistic enough, some more action is needed!

Getting a bit daft

Warning: Spoilers
It started out ok. Quite a good concept I suppose (in terms of seeing the deceased husband alive and well on a nanny cam). But it never really builds on this revelation imo. The drama just feels a bit forced to me. The lead characters former career in the military is a bit clichéd.

Also, at the end of the episode, the lead character suspects there's an intruder in the house, and you can hear her infant daughter crying out. What does she do? Rushes to see whats going on, to protect her daughter? No. She goes down stairs to calmly pull on some shooting gloves and get her gun. No real parent suspecting their child was in danger would do this! A bit ridiculous.
