Jenna Ortega has been making some interesting choices as a rising actress and always impressing audiences with her performances. From her Disney Days, she began to star in pivotal roles in various horror films, including Scream V, VI, and X, while boosting her star status with the titular role in Netflix’s Wednesday.

Ortega continued to make bold choices as an actress, starring in this year’s erotic thriller Miller’s Girl. She starred alongside Martin Freeman in the film with the film’s premise centering around the complicated relationship that starts forming between them. With the film now streaming on Netflix, fans are cringing at its uncomfortable premise even though both actors were good in their roles.

There are many things that Indian cinema does right, but the fantasy genre isn’t something we excel at. But V.I. Anand’s Bhairavakottai certainly could be a game changer and an inspiration for filmmakers trying to pull this genre off. The director takes inspiration from Garuda Purana and throws in his own twist to create a fictitious village where souls filled with rage and vengeance come back to this prison in their afterlife. Anand’s fictional world is as good as it can be, and the filmmaker deserves applause for materializing this idea on the big screen. Despite the dodgy VFX, Anand’s story is so powerful that you don’t really mind the poor visuals from time to time.

Helldivers 2 is, without a doubt, one of the most played games out there. This game is certainly keeping a lot of PlayStation 5 and PC gamers very happy. The most prominent factor behind this popularity is, for sure, its incredible gameplay. People can team up with their friends and just go berserk on factions of enemies that dare to face them.
But there’s something that keeps on improving in this game with every passing day, and that is its lore. The developers have taken it upon themselves to add a bunch of new stuff to this game every now and then. And now, some fans suggest there’s a very dark secret behind one of the game’s leading enemy factions.

Fresh off the film’s premiere at Sundance earlier this year, Your Monster starring Melissa Barrera (Scream VI) has been acquired for U.S. release by Vertical, Deadline reports.
We don’t yet have a release date but we expect one soon. Stay tuned.
“We were captivated by Caroline Lindy’s film at Sundance and thrilled it has made a home here at Vertical,” Vertical’s Peter Jarowey said in a statement. “Marking her directorial feature debut, she has created a fantastic, fresh, genre-defying film that perfectly balances the mix of comedy, romance, and horror topped off with a dash of musical theater that will captivate and delight audiences later this year.”
Lindy added in her own statement, “I’m beyond thrilled to collaborate with Vertical on the release of Your Monster. Their strategies and commitment to innovative distribution aligns perfectly with our movie, and their passion for the film...

The “Untitled Monster Thriller” from Radio Silence (V/H/S, Southbound, Scream, Scream VI) and Universal has officially been revealed this week, and it’s titled Abigail.
“Children can be such monsters” is the official tagline for the Radio Silence-directed Abigail, which is scheduled for release in theaters April 19. And the trailer has arrived today.
Watch the official trailer for Abigail below, which is a bloody blast. The Don’t Breathe-esque setup introduces a band of criminals who attempt to kidnap a seemingly innocent young girl. Of course, the little girl turns out to be a vampire – a ballerina vampire, to be specific.
The cast for this one is absolutely stacked with talent, and the killer premise looks to have been executed by Radio Silence in the most fun – and bloody – way possible. It channels the spirit of their pre-Scream horror hit Ready or Not, and it promises to be a gory good time.

27 years after the original title wowed audiences on the Super Nintendo, the 1996 classic game Super Mario RPG is finally getting a full remake on the Nintendo Switch. More than branching out the Super Mario franchise effectively into the RPG gameplay genre, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (as it was fully titled) is one of the best turn-based RPGs on one of the best consoles for RPGs ever released. Debuting three months before the launch of the Nintendo 64, Super Mario RPG does feel like the perfect (if sometimes bittersweet) swan song to the entire Snes RPG era.
Here is how Super Mario RPG came to be and how the game closed out not just Nintendo’s Snes era, but the Snes’ place as the premier console experience for RPGs.

The 2023 Clio Entertainment Awards, recognizing creative excellence in entertainment marketing, were handed out Thursday night in Hollywood, with Barbie, Tár, Wednesday and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story among the big winners.

“In a year that brought whiplash to the industry — with a summer where entertainment marketing captivated the popular culture and had Barbenheimer audiences flocking to theaters, only to be mostly shut down by two strikes — creativity was the key to converting consumers into fans,” Ashley Falls, executive director of Clio Entertainment, said in a statement. “It’s no surprise that the Barbie integrated campaign by Warner Bros. Are the movies back? It’s an open question, one that is curiously thorny to unpack right now considering that much of Hollywood remains on pause. Yes, the WGA strike finally ended when studios at last agreed to fairly pay their writers and find common ground on their demands related to artificial intelligence. However, the SAG-AFTRA strike continues on in the background. Hence major studio tentpoles like Dune: Part Two leaving to find greener pastures.
Still, after what seemed like an anemic summer following the failures of old studio standby franchises via DC and Indiana Jones, and others that just massively underperformed Fast X, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One), folks were wondering if audiences were tired of the movies. Then the gift of Barbenheimer occurred. It turns out audiences were incredibly excited… to at least see Barbie and Oppenheimer. However, does this mean they’re excited to see much else?...

Scream creator Kevin Williamson is hoping Neve Campbell, who played Sidney Prescott in the hit horror films, eventually makes a return to the franchise after she exited last year due to salary disputes.
During a recent interview on the Happy Horror Time podcast, the writer-producer-director said he “totally respect[s] her opinion,” but he hopes something can be figured out for future movies.
“I know exactly where she’s coming from, I know her well,” Williamson said. “I love and adore her and that’s what she did. It’s right for her. I love everyone involved in Scream and all I can say is, pay her the money. That’s what I would do, I would give her the money.”
He continued, “I’m sure there’s a number they can agree on that will make them both happy, so hopefully one day they will figure that all out.”

Final Fantasy IV represented a series of firsts for the franchise. Not only was it the first Final Fantasy game developed for the Snes/Super Famicom, but it introduced the iconic Active Time Battle (Atb) system to the series. It turns out those events were related, but the creation and refinement of the Atb system may have not gone down exactly how you think it did.
For those unfamiliar with the Atb system, traditional Jrpg mechanics dictate that every character, be they a controllable party member or an enemy, takes turns during battle. In early Final Fantasy games, the heroes go first, followed by the monsters. But in Final Fantasy IV’s Atb system, every character is governed by a meter that fills up. Once it’s full, they can fulfill a variety of actions.
However, the game doesn’t pause while players are deciding what move their characters should make.

After a lot of pausing, rewinding, and zooming in, as well as researching, we’re catching all of the many horror-specific references Williamson, Craven, and Co. included in this beloved postmodern slasher franchise. If we’ve forgotten any glaring ones, kindly let us know.
“Who gives a fuck about movies?!”
“Forget about the movies— the movies don’t matter.” Jason Voorhees, Patrick Bateman, Frank Zito. Now Ghostface. New York City may be the most exciting city in the world, but it can also be one of the scariest, and it was only a matter of time before Scream migrated from sleepy Woodsboro to the East Coast, giving much-needed kinetic energy and gritty set pieces to the long-running, postmodern slasher franchise.

The stars of Scream VI and Renfield, Melissa Barrera and Nicholas Hoult have signed on to star in The One, an upcoming horror movie centered on a reality dating show.
THR reports this morning that Riley Keough is producing the feature film, which will be written and directed by Kevin Armento and Jaki Bradley.
The One is said to be a “nightmarish horror about the romantic and psychological warfare waged by our beloved popular entertainment.”
“The One follows Taylor (Barrera), who makes a last-ditch effort to find love by becoming a contestant on a reality dating show. Now down to just herself and two other women competing to win the heart of Mason (Hoult), Taylor begins to feel the artifice of the show fade, and the game becomes terrifyingly real.
“Amidst the opulent beachfront setting, fairytale dates and ever-flowing champagne, pursuit turns into obsession and rivalry turns into treachery as reality itself blurs.

This article contains major Scream VI spoilers.
Screenwriters James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are somewhat superstitious. This is not to say the pair of scribes believe in things like spirits, jinxes, or Bigfoot. But when it comes to collaborating on the script for a beloved franchise, they refuse to tempt fate by discussing what their plans for the next one might be. Instead they treat each film, be it 2022’s Scream (aka Scream 5) or last month’s Scream VI, like potentially the last word on its series. For that reason, they didn’t even begin swapping ideas on VI until the project was greenlit and the pair were having their first story meeting.
So imagine their surprise, then, that as Busick began explaining his wild idea for the opening Scream VI kill—which involved the immediate unmasking of Ghostface after he finishes butchering a poor associate film studies professor...

As a famous character from another long-running cinematic franchise once said, "No one's ever really gone." That axiom goes double for horror franchises, whether you're talking about a fierce survivor or a vicious killer. The return of the latter type of character is such a cliche that the original "Scream" from 1996 made explicit reference to it during its finale. Before Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) could "come back to life for one last scare," as film nerd Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy) warned, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) shot him in the head. "Not in my movie," she intoned, signifying once again that "Scream" knew the rules and could either play by them or break them.
After series director Wes Craven passed away in 2015, the "Scream" franchise has been taken over by the filmmakers collectively known as Radio Silence (directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and producer Chad Villella) to much praise and success.

On March 10, 2023, “Scream VI” was released by Paramount Pictures and became the highest-grossing box office opener for the franchise, raking in nearly $45 million over the weekend. Despite the absence of Neve Campbell’s iconic character Sidney Prescott, the film was a hit with both fans and critics, currently holding a 76% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 92% audience score.
In this installment, the survivors of the Ghostface killings leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter in New York City. The cast includes Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Hayden Panettiere, Jack Champion, Dermot Mulroney and Courteney Cox returning as original franchise O.G. Gail Weathers. The critics consensus reads, “Certain aspects of horror’s most murderously meta franchise may be going stale, but a change of setting and some inventive set pieces help keep Scream VI reasonably sharp.” Read our full review roundup below.

Warning: This story contains major spoilers for “Scream VI,” in theaters now.
Anytime a “Scream” movie drops, it’s safe to assume fans want to see it multiple times, especially to catch all the Easter eggs. The sixth movie, written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick and directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, picks up plenty of threads from the last film.
This time, Tara (Jenna Ortega) enrolls in college in New York City, attempting to leave the past in the past. Making it hard is her overprotective sister, Sam (Melissa Barrera), who struggles to move forward since the internet is convinced she actually orchestrated the last killings. Along with Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox), “Scream VI” also marks the return of Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin and “Scream 4” survivor Kirby Reed (Hayden Panettiere), who now works as an FBI agent and comes to New York after hearing about Ghostface’s return.

The slasher sequel Scream 6 is now in theatres (you can read our review Here), and if you’re in the Los Angeles area you also have the chance to visit the Scream VI Experience, an immersive exhibit that is built to look like the bodega where a standout scene in the film takes place. The Experience bodega is packed with Easter egg nods to previous Scream movies – and there is also museum of props and costumes from all of the Scream movies. JoBlo / Arrow in the Head reader Ryan C. was able to check out the exhibit, and was kind enough to send in several pictures he took while looking around in there. You can take a look at those pictures at the bottom of this article.

The film going into production this summer will have Barrera playing a young Salvadoran woman who travels to Kentucky to meet her fiancé. What she uncovers is something sinister beyond comprehension, as her American dream curdles into a nightmare of biblical proportions.

The stunt world has lost a superstar. George P. Wilbur, the prolific stunt performer, coordinator, and double has died at the age of 81.
Film fans and critics seldom give stunt performers the love they deserve, but as "Once Upon A Time... in Hollywood" showed us, they're often the invisible pillars holding up entire productions. Without their high-octane mix of bravery and precise training, and with a generous dash of daredevil recklessness, we would never have gotten the death-defying, thrill-inducing, price-of-the-ticket justifying action that has made films like "Die Hard," "Escape From New York," and "Total Recall" such rewatchable classics. And Wilbur, whose resume was nearing a stunning 150 credits when he retired in 2013, did stunts on all of them.
Born at the height of the Second World War in Connecticut, in 1941, Wilbur would go on to enlist in the Navy before eventually finding his way to Tuscon, Arizona, where he worked...

"Scream" (2022) survivors Tara (Jenna Ortega), Sam (Melissa Barrera), Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown), and Chad (Mason Gooding) probably thought they were making a very clever decision when they left Woodsboro behind for New York. In their defense, it's pretty reasonable assumption to make that a big city setting will make them a lot safer. The Big Apple is about as different from Woodsboro as can be — and anyway, what kind of maniac continues to hang out in the small town where a number of Ghostface-clad serial killers have gone on a murderous rampage? Well, besides Sidney Prescott.
Unfortunately, it takes a lot more than a change of setting to avoid stumbling into a sequel. When Sidney wasn't busy hanging around her basically haunted hometown, she was desperately chasing a change of pace. "Scream 2" caught up with her in an Ohio college, and Ghostface still came a-knocking. In "Scream 3,...

Actor Scott Patterson, who played Stars Hollow’s Luke Danes on The WB/The CW’s Gilmore Girls, has opened up about feeling objectified while filming a season three episode.
The description on the latest episode of his podcast, I Am All In with Scott Patterson–in which he does weekly episode breakdowns of motormouthed dramedy Gilmore Girls–reads: “Scott reveals something extremely personal and important about a part of this episode.”
Covering the S3 E19 episode “Keg! Max!”, Patterson reflected on a scene where Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and friend Sookie St. James (Melissa McCarthy) ogle over and comment on the diner owner’s buns. In the scene, Lorelai remarks the comments are “all positive”, to which Luke replies, “And in bad taste.”

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Obi-Wan Kenobi Episode 3, “Part III.”] Obi-Wan Kenobi may already be the stage for an epic reunion between Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, but it also marks the return of James Earl Jones as the iconic Darth Vader’s voice. The performer’s vocals were confirmed by the show’s latest installment, “Part III,” which dropped on Wednesday, June 1. Unlike the limited series’ other casting announcements, no indication of Jones’ involvement was made public until the episode aired. (Credit: Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images for Tony Awards Productions) James Earl Jones has voiced the Sith Lord since Anakin Skywalker’s masked counterpart was introduced in 1977’s Star Wars (a.k.a. Hamaguchi Ryusuke’s “Drive My Car” and Asghar Farhadi’s “A Hero,” two films that debuted in Cannes, emerge as the strong favorites for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, after nominations were announced on Wednesday.
Both films are nominated for best film, best directing, best screenplay and best performance by an actor.
The best film category is rounded out by nominations for India-France co-production “A Night of Knowing Nothing,” directed by India’s Payal Kapadia; “The Pencil” from Russia’s Natalya Nazarova; and “There is No Evil,” an Iran-Czech-Germany co-production directed by Mohammad Rasoulof that won the Golden Bear in Berlin.
Organizers said that nominations had gone to 38 films from 25 Asia Pacific countries and regions. Films from Japan and Iran each collected seven nominations. And, after 14 years, a representative from Vietnam collected the country’s first Apsa nomination.
But the Apsa nominations represented a complete shut-out for both mainland China and Taiwan.

The debate surrounding Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker continues to rumble on as fans dissect every moment of the Skywalker Saga’s concluding chapter. At this stage, most people are in agreement that the story underwent hasty revisions to try and distance itself from the backlash that greeted The Last Jedi, and all J.J. Abrams ended up having to show for it was worse reviews and lower box office numbers.
Palpatine’s involvement has come under particular criticism, with Abrams returning to the well and revealing the Emperor to be the main villain for the third trilogy in a row, which characterizes the Sequel Trilogy’s approach to originality in a nutshell. The expanded universe, meanwhile, is filling in some of the gaps created by The Rise of Skywalker‘s various plot holes, and now the movie’s ending has been directly tied to the events of Return of the Jedi.

It’s the beginning of the month, which means streaming services all across the internet are adding a host of new movies to their libraries. Hulu, for one, has got a truckload of fresh titles for subscribers to enjoy. Any Starfleet fans out there will be excited for today’s haul, in particular, as Hulu is adding a total of six Star Trek movies.
The only thing is that it’s a slightly random assortment, which is unfortunate for those who might to want to rewatch them in order. The good news, though, is that the first three movies are all available, so you can watch them in sequence, starting with 1979’s Star Trek: The Motion Picture right through to Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984). 1986’s Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home isn’t among them, however, but V and VI – The Final Frontier and The Undiscovered Country – are.

The Star Wars prequels famously contain a few issues of continuity when it comes to their connections with the Original Trilogy. The most well-known example is perhaps the presence of the R2-D2 and C-3Po in Episodes I-iii, with the pair evidently having long-standing associations with series regulars like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, yet fail to ever bring this up throughout the various reunions and revelations of Episodes IV-vi. But the seeming inconsistency that this new Reddit post seeks to rebuke has a lot more to do with the duo’s warm-blooded and rapidly aging peers.
Reddit user Vendo_23 opens their theory by observing how the change in actor between the thirty-something Ewan McGregor in the prequels, and the sixty-something Alec Guinness of the original films creates a potential error.
“Obi-Wan Kenobi looks around ~35 yrs of age in Episode III. But of course he gets to be ~80 yrs...
