When The Thundermans aired its final episode on Nickelodeon in 2018, it went out the way it came in five years before: as a laugh-track-studded, half-hour comedy about a family of superheroes living in a fictional suburb called Hiddenville. The jokes were plentiful. The vibes were warm. The pet bunny was evil. (More on that in a moment.)
But when the idea of a reunion movie first came up years later, says Kira Kosarin, who played Thunderman teen daughter Phoebe in the original series, things looked and felt a lot different.

“Days of our Lives” fans will see an unfamiliar face in a familiar role when soap newcomer Natasha Hall temporarily replaces Jessica Serfaty as Sloan Petersen for at least three episodes during the week of March 4-8, 2024.
Hall, best known for playing Yvette over three episodes in “The Kominsky Method” during the third season of the Netflix original series, will appear in scenes alongside several Salemites, including Jamie Martin Mann (Tate), Emily O Brien (Theresa) and Greg Vaughan (Eric), among others.
Soap Opera Digest, which first reported the news, did not provide a reason for the temporary recast. Meanwhile, the current storyline sees Sloan dealing with the guilt of knowing that Jude, the child she and Eric are raising, is actually Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Eric’s biological baby.

“Lucifer,” “Squid Game,” “Luca” and “CoComelon” were among the most popular programming titles on streaming services in 2021 for Black, Asian and Hispanic viewers, Nielsen Analytics found. Other SVOD winners with these three demographic groups were Disney Plus’ “Moana” and “Raya and the Last Dragon” and Netflix’s “Manifest,” “Criminal Minds” and “You” across the categories of original, acquired and movie content.
“Squid Game” was a standout on the originals list, as it was one of the most popular programs with Asian, Hispanic and African American viewers. Crunching the demographic data even further, Nielsen researchers found that in Asian households, the Korean-language version of the dystopian, anti-capitalist thriller garnered 45% viewing, and generated one-third of its viewing minutes in Hispanic households. In the 18-34 age range, 29% of viewership was attributable to the Korean-language version with English subtitles. “CoComelon,” another 2021 hotshot, drove 33.3 billion minutes of screen time across the wide array of SVOD platforms it is available on.

Paramount Plus is taking a page from ViacomCBS’s Pluto TV streaming service with the launch of 18 linear channels that let subscribers surf through always-on themed collections of shows — just like old-fashioned television.
On Thursday, Paramount Plus launched Live Channels, a new feature that curates popular shows and movies on the service in linear channels, pulled from ViacomCBS properties including CBS, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, BET and the Smithsonian Channel as well as from other sources.
The themed “live” channels, streaming 24 hours per day, feature the service’s most-streamed genres, such as Kids & Family Fun, Crime & Justice and Reality TV: Competitions, as well as fan-favorite franchises such as “Star Trek,” “SpongeBob SquarePants” and “Paw Patrol.”
Paramount Plus is adopting the linear TV-style model pioneered by Pluto TV, which Viacom acquired in early 2019. Tom Ryan, founder of Pluto TV, was elevated to president and CEO of ViacomCBS Streaming a year ago.

Among media companies, “going dark” was once a matter of last resort. Now it’s an option that is seeing more light.
CBS is not currently available on DirecTV or AT&T’s U-verse, the result of a battle over how much the two outlets’ owner, AT&T, ought to pay for the right to send CBS into millions of subscriber homes. The schism between the two companies, which cracked open early Saturday morning, is just the latest example of TV network and TV distributor finding themselves at odds at a moment when the industry is scrambling to lock in reliable streams of cash.
The CBS-at&t feud marks the third blackout of programming in the past two weeks, according to the American Television Alliance, an advocacy group representing cable and satellite distributors – and the 213th overall in 2019.
Compare that figure to the number that took place in 2010 – a mere eight.
