I just can't believe how far LD has come. Every season continues to amaze me with his acting, his songs and the stories that he tells. This has to be the best episode this season easily just for that scene near the end of the episode. I was tearing up the whole time. It's not as cringe worthy as season 2 but man does it pull at the heart strings. I can't stress enough that this show needs a season 4. The way he is able to poke out these flaws about himself whether real or fictional are just so dumbfounding. A critical view of a main character is something we don't see to this extent, considering most shows try to make their characters likeable the whole way through with an arc. But Dave is always learning more about who he is and the man that he wants to be. The way they touch on the his superficial side is so striking as something we've seen so much but to have it come from someone he cares so much about just really drives the point home.
Listen, I love Rachel McAdams and I would marry her in a heartbeat. But Dave is perfect for Robyn. They need to end up together because Dave has to choose between going for the girl that his idealistic self wants or the girl that his genuine self wants. We all need a girl like Robyn in our lives she's written to be such an amazing character. Amazing piece of television. Dave Burd is a genius and if he doesn't go back to writing songs for the album for a while I'd be fine with that, I'm just happy we get what we get in the show.
