I've watched many survivalist shows, but this first episode beats most, if not all in their entirety of the other shows. Most of the shows I asked myself "could I do this" and then it was boiled down to "do I want to do this?" The answers are NO and NO on this show.
Getting to know the teams, their dynamics, their backgrounds and sizing them up. All the teams have backgrounds in different ways that give them the qualifications to attempt, but more importantly to endure the obstacles and challenges that they face. As an Ironman athlete I have learned to embrace pain, embrace the suck and to be comfortable being uncomfortable, well, that is the mantra in this series.
I've been to Alaska twice and appreciated it's majesty and un forgiveness on the decks of a cruise ship. Never seeing or experiencing the middle of land, but only imagining the challenges of what lies beyond the shore lines and coast this pretty much is what I expected.
There are some brutal things that are documented here, be prepared.
I'm really looking forward to the next episodes and observing and experiencing from the contestants experiences how they navigate through Alaska.
