Well done EBU...not

Warning: Spoilers
The 68th Eurovision Song Contest could have been and would have been one of the best in the whole Eurovision Song Contest history. But...

The majority of the participating countries have managed to present beautiful, artistic, interesting and well produced songs. They kept the viewer entertained and pleased with a few hilarious perfomances that will be remembered, a tradition for the Contest. Above all it is worth noting that for the first time in probably many years, out of the 37 participating songs, 12 where written solely in their mother language and 4 in their mother language and English as well. Various genres of music, ballads, a truly unforgettable one, by Slimane from France, an ouija-pop, by Bambie Thug from Ireland, two of the Happy Hardcore/Eurodance/Eurotrance genre, thanks to Joost Klein from the Netherlands and Kaleen from Austria and last but not least the techno/heavy metal/pop/punk song by Baby Lasagna from Croatia.

The two hosts of this year's Contest, the talented Malin Åkerman and Petra Mede did an amazing job, spreading vast waves of their positiveness and charisma.

But as the title says, and the 'would have been' and 'could have been' that are mentioned above, EBU acted the exact opposite way infuriating the viewers in the venue and the ones at home, all over Europe. Their inability to safeguard the integrity and reputation of the Contest led to the loss of the mood added by their indifference to react appropriately to various incidents that took place. From stupid, rediculous prohibitions e.g. Not allowing the EU flag (!) or the Non-Binary flag into the venue, forcing spectators to throw them away before been allowed by security to enter, to the constant bullying of a certain country's staff towards other contestants and their staff. To make things even worse in the brink of the Grand Final, EBU disqualified Joost Klein, the Dutch singer, because of 'a violent incident' against a staff member of the Swedish organisers, giving no detail explanation. Note that this was the first time that a disqualification was enacted!

Hopefully, all this mess that was created will not be repeated again. Thanks to the beautiful songs and the overall spirit, for the time being, the Contest is in a safe mode.

And the winner is

Warning: Spoilers
Time flies and in 2 years Eurovision Song Contest will have the anniversary party. Baby Lasagna the Croatian dub of the Garfield Movie are in this contest as well as Gåte with a rocking folk song, music from all around the World from Armenia and religious folk from Ukraine that was a sound a like Mutter Theresa by Mayrhofner. What hurts the contest was the withdrawal of The Netherlands as Europapa was the most hyped song this spring on Apple and Spotify, but it does not stop to be one of this years chart toppers as the year ends. With the return of Luxembourg this year we could get some suprises like returning countries, or maybe new countries next year in Switzerland.

Switzerland

To tell you the truth, I liked the competition this year, until the final. The host were good. Petra Mede was great again. Overall, it was an okay competition. But I didn't like the final. I disliked the song that won the competition. Just like last year, the jury chose their side and sent high scores to Switzerland. I'm not saying it was a bad ;song, it was good, and the performance was good too. But the winner of the competition should have been Croatia. People sent the most points to Croatia. Even though he did not win, like in some competitions, Baby Lasagna will always be remembered for his excellent performance. Anyway, on the final night, I was angry with the result. Congratulations to Switzerland, but it should have been Croatia.

The worst event to date.

Without fail, I watch every year, friends and family, all ages, all sexes, all sexualities, and every single one of us loathed it this year. Joyless, overly political, cheap looking, overly sexualised trash.

I'll give credit to the presenters, they at least were fun and professional, but boy were they up against it, it felt like a competition born out of hate, I despised the way some of the acts were treated, shameful.

Worst of all, The UK's entry, I honestly can't believe it finished as high as 18th, diabolically terrible, not a performance I wanted younger members of my family to watch, I'm very liberal and open minded, but come on, no wonder it received no public votes, I agreed with the vox populi.

The powers that be need to think very carefully if this show is worth saving, because after this one, it feels terminal.

The best performance by a mile, Croatia, clearly the public voted on what they actually saw, the performance, not the same for the judges.

Horrible.

2/10.

The first year I didn't really enjoy it

Lifeless, no fun, subdued, sad, bland, boring. Eurovision 2024 was not up to standard and I hope it's never like this again.

I love watching Eurovision and look forward to it every year. I don't know exactly what was wrong with Eurovision 2024 but it just seemed to have no life. Nobody seemed to be happy or having fun. There was plenty of controversy too. If it continues like this I'd be devastated to not watch Eurovision any more. I hope they take note of how badly they treated the participants that they seemed to be having a really bad time and no fun.

Also, the stage was horrible and seemed like the budget was massively cut.
