- TriviaHelen asks Nadja for "eye of newt." The origin as an ingredient for witches' brew is from William Shakespeare's "Macbeth." The witches' scene describes a concoction that consists of "Fillet of a fenny snake, In the cauldron boil and bake; Eye of newt and toe of frog, Wool of bat and tongue of dog, Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting, Lizard's leg and owlet's wing, For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble." Luckily, these terms refer to plants, not actual animal parts. Eye of newt is a pseudonym for mustard seed.
- Quotes
Laszlo Cravensworth: Gizmo, what are you doing out there?
Guillermo de la Cruz: Having a wank?
Laszlo Cravensworth: Ah, good man. Carry on.

Pretty Funny
First of all, I will never understand people not liking one aspect of an episode and giving it a 1/10. Like seriously? You didn't like 1/3 of the episode and now it's an automatic 1? You know there are other numbers that exist between 1 and 10, right?
Secondly, complaining that this episode was creepy, upsetting, and weird. Umm, yeah? Did you not understand that you've been watching a TV-MA vampire show with a Horror genre tag for 5 seasons now?
Yes, this episode and its creatures definitely are among the most bizarre and weird things this show has done, but it was great! Although I wish they did more with them.
I love that even the parts that are CGI still look like they're using animatronics and everything feels practical. I just love how they have been blending CGI and practical from the very first beginning to make everything look as real as possible. It will definitely age the show like fine wine for the years to come. They don't use cheap CGI that ruins the immersion and make the show look dated.
I just appreciate them caring enough to have practical effects as much as they are able to and not ruin the amazing production and set designs with bad CGI. Even the clearly all CGI creatures and parts still look so well done and the lighting is done so well that it blends the CGI with the environment and makes it look as real as possible and they don't look like cheap TV-level CGI either.
The Guillermo creatures are definitely creepy and bizarre, but this show has always been bizarre from the beginning, and I appreciate them keeping up the wackiness and weirdness even this far into the show. They introduce new vampire power-related things even 5 seasons in and I can't get enough. Because I honestly thought they couldn't do more creative things with vampires and they've done it all. But they keep surprising me this the new creatures and the witchcraft and things like swapping souls and all that stuff, and I really appreciate it that they keep it fresh and introduce new things.
This episode is also really funny but mostly because of Laszlo again. The lines they Matt Berry are absolute comedy gold, but Matt Berry's delivery just makes them the funniest thing ever. Matt Berry can say the most normal sentence ever in his Laszlo voice and you'd be dying of laughter because of his delivery and his hilarious pronunciation of certain words. His pronunciation and talking are definitely one of the best and funniest parts of this show as a whole.
Anyway, this episode might not be one of the best episodes of the show narratively and plot-wise, nor is it the funniest one. But it is still a competent episode that will make you laugh nonetheless and you can't really ignore the efforts they put into being creative with the story and the characters, and also all the efforts put into the production, makeup, and the visual effects.
The only part I thought didn't work that great was Nadja's plotline. They don't really do much at all with that storyline and it's repetitive throughout the episode. It doesn't have the potential or the capability of being that long and definitely felt like they only had an idea for the first act of a plotline for Nadja. But didn't come up with the rest of it and just repeated the same thing over and over and the conclusion isn't satisfying at all.
It's not like they do much with Guillermo's plotline either, but at least that one had Laszlo in it and it was entertaining and funny.
I might be a little generous with my rating here, but I really enjoyed this episode and I thought it was well-made.
