We've seen the spectacular short films All's Fair and Valibation from A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas director Todd Strauss-Schulson, but we've been waiting on his next feature film for a little while now. Finally, Variety has word that his horror comedy The Final Girls is coming together at Sony Pictures after New Line took too long to get it off the ground. We're excited because the story begins by following a girl grieving the loss of her mother, a well-known scream queen of the 1980's, not unlike a young Jamie Lee Curtis. But suddenly, the girl and her friends are sucked into the world of her mother's iconic horror film. Inside the world of the film, the girl is reunited with her mother where they must both face the crazed serial killer in order to escape. In addition, Malin Akerman (who actually starred in the original Harold & Kumar Go to...

Why Watch? After a brutal breakup, a weak-kneed ex-boyfriend finds himself desperate for intimacy, so he hires a hooker. Instead of sex, he’s dropping fifty bucks an hour to silently watch cooking shows and have her complain about the room being too cold. You know, relationship stuff. More than anything else, All’s Fair is surprisingly sweet, showing a sentimental side to director Todd Strauss-Schulson who produced a bare-breasted Heaven for the third Harold and Kumar and delivered the cell phone body-horror Valibation last year. This is a different, cuddlier animal that features an everyman who manages to avoid annoyance, a fantastic turn from a Beyonce-channeling Cleo King and some real talk about letting go from a lady of the night. Touching and funny, it’s a light meditation on what it costs to keep a broken past going. What Will It Cost? About 12 minutes. A New Short Film Every Weekday...

Last year, A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas director Todd Strauss-Schulson delivered a darkly funny short film called Valibation that had flares of David Cronenberg. This year, the filmmaker is back with another short film, but this one is a little more personal. All's Fair... stars Thomas Middleditch (who you might recognize as a prominent bowtie-wearing broker from The Wolf of Wall Street) as a man whose relationship has just crumbled before him. As he has fantastical flashes of how his ex-girlfriend's new relationship is going, he decides to pay a prostitute for some company, but not in the way you might think. Here's Todd Strauss-Schulson's short film All's Fair... from the director's Ulterior Productions: Funny and charming, the film comes from the hurt Strauss-Schulson felt from his own life. He explains, "I went through a pretty rough break up this year and it was not great. I wrote...

Using the Genuflex Mk III rig, director Todd Strauss-Schulson wanted to create something he thought Busby Berkeley might if he were alive today, so he got some dancers and a robot to help out. The result is a very cool video featuring some fantastic motion control moments that boast a stop-on-a-dime technique while channeling the high energy of the choreography. Strauss-Schulson made A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas as well as the wonderfully bizarre body horror short film Valibation (watch here), so it’s clear that he’s into some weird stuff, but it’s difficult to pin him down. The test is for a new project called Entertain_bot, and while the filmmaker isn’t revealing any details about it, this camera test impressively speaks for itself:...

After making his feature film debut with A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, director Todd Strauss-Schulson has lined up several future projects including an adaptation of Rascal Raccoon, a horror comedy called Final Girls, and an action comedy Family Getaway. But as he waits to get those projects off the ground, the filmmaker has still been busy. Earlier this year he delivered the David Cronenberg-esque short Valibation (watch it here), and now he's working on a new feature called The Entertain_bot that uses some impressive camera techniques to shoot a dance sequence in a way audiences haven't seen before. Here's the proof of concept for Todd Strauss-Schulson's The Entertain_Bot from Vimeo: Strauss-Schulson sent us the video, which is preceded with the text, "I have always wanted to shoot dance numbers in a hyper cinematic way. Doing what Busby Berkeley would do if he were alive today. Having...
