The pirates' gunfire barrage occurs with single-shot weapons, none of them reloaded.
Captain Bonnie shows off to Hook that Orion is "in the wrong place" and Polaris is not visible and Hook says that astronomy is not his best suit. Even if he had been well versed in astronomy, just by looking at a portion of sky from a small window, it is not possible to tell which star could be Polaris or Pole star. Hook was not even aware of the directions of East-West-North-South at that time, though Captain Bonnie must be knowing that. On Earth, Orion is near ecliptic, so it moves east to west, it could be that near to horizon only when rising or setting and then, the shape that is seen from window is not possible at its rising or setting, it is at 90 degree tilt from Earth view, so it is surely out of place.
When the boys arrive at the pirate ship in the dugout canoe the camera pans up and clearly shining in the night sky is Earth's moon. That would be impossible if this planet were across the galaxy somewhere.
