While Alicia becomes involved in a case where disgruntled workers are demanding union representation, she gets involved in this in the weirdest way. Her mother has her come to the funeral of a friend who died sleeping at the wheel of his car and she and another co-worker want Alicia to take the case.
While this is occurring, Lockhart-Gardner has "union" trouble of their own. The associates are threatening to organize as they want more money. One of the associates is a real potential union buster with his threat of firing people so that he can break the group up.
With Peter now behind in the polls, he is urged to go negative. Strange thing here is that Eli, in charge of his campaign, is absent for this episode. Pete also wants to renew his marriage vows with Alicia, while her mother wants her to pursue Will Gardner. Alicia's math professor brother appears in this episode and is effective.
