Watched this at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
This movie is hybrid of documentary and fictional storytelling as the filmmaker presents, while flawed structure, an interesting observation on the Queer community with colorful production, fun interviews from the participants and ideas explored. The filmmaker uses an interesting structure to tell the story using both narrative and documentary style to explore the history of queer communities, trans identity and the identities people are. The documentary aspects are strong as many of the conversations and queer individuals were funny, insightful and provided some really good discussions.
On the narrative aspect, it was weak. The narrative does have some interesting moments but the performances were mostly fine but it didn't have a strong impact like the documentary aspects were. The narrative aspects felt a little dry with some strange and repetitive dialogue moments.
The soundtrack is good and there is colorful presentation that I like. As much the narrative aspect is weak, I still enjoyed the movie as a whole. Kind of just wish the movie would stick to one rather than hybrid tho.
