I had the opportunity to see this as part of Belfast Film Festival in November 2023, including a Q&A session with the director, Sam Jones. This was at Queen's Film Theatre.
This is an excellent documentary of young man's struggle and emotional journey as he tries to find his birth mother in Russia. It is very immediate, yet the story is beautifully told.
I found the film tremendously moving but also challenging (in a positive way). In part this was because my own opinion of the protagonist was complex and changed over the course of the film and caused me to re-evaluate my initial ideas about him.
Highly recommended.
