Netflix’s love for documentary series is unparalleled. Documentaries used to be rare watches. They were found on television channels dedicated to a specific topic. Netflix was one of the many Ott platforms that merged entertainment with educational documentaries that covered every kind of subject for people to watch. You name it, they have it. Toughest Forces on Earth is about three ex-armed forces men who are keen to do something adventurous. The Netflix deal just happened to fall on their laps, and their lives have changed ever since.
The 8-episode documentary series is all about the excitement of the hosts, Dean Stott, Cameron Fath, and Ryan Bates; all ex-armed forces men are given the chance to train with the elite armed forces of many countries around the world. They learn about combat skills by putting themselves to the test. The three men travel across the world in different terrains...

There is no dearth of historical documentaries on Netflix. The numbers are staggering, and it is interesting how the platform is bringing forward never-before-heard or seen stories of kings and queens from around the world. They also cover stories of other figures from the ancient world, which helps the audience receive a different perspective on the lives they led. It allows us to understand the politics of the world and the contribution of a respective figure in world history. It could be a cultural or political impact that survived all this time for historians to speak about and educate people about. History cannot be restricted to school textbooks anymore. It is interesting that this subject is being presented through Ott platforms in a way that is very different from classroom lessons.

It is not that often that we come across stories about how an operation was conducted by intelligence agencies. We have seen and heard about them through books and movies. Often, the characters in these are fictionalized, while other times they stick to using the names of real people. Spy Ops is a brand-new documentary series that takes the audience through several famous spy operations conducted all around the world by different intelligence agencies. The first episode is about how the Central Intelligence Agency, aka CIA, carried out ‘Operation Jawbreaker’ in Afghanistan within months of the attacks of September 11, 2001. A mission was carried out to decimate the Taliban and Al Qaeda and kill Osama bin Laden.
What Triggered The Formation Of Operation Jawbreaker?
The episode begins with Gary Schroen talking about his history of serving in Afghanistan from 1993 to 1996 and how he has established ties with Allies for his agency.

When a Soviet submarine carrying nuclear warheads sunk into the north Pacific in 1968, the CIA took on a hugely ambitious project to recover it.
To keep it all a secret, the agency enlisted the help of Howard Hughes, who provided the agency cover, the guise being that the deep ocean activity was part of his company’s mining exploration.

The agency is collaborating with the producer of the series, Big Media, often shedding new light on Cold War-era and more recent operations that involve Argo-like risks and secrecy, while certain details still remain classified.
