Now that Mary Parker has been "convinced" to let June act, studio head Harry Sylver wants to hire June as the next "Veronica Blaire." However, when her no-name status becomes an issue for his brother, financier Myron Sylver, Harry puts Sweeney on a one-week mission to make June an overnight star. With the help of studio stylist Fabian, June is paraded at all the L.A. hot spots, with the city's most eligible bachelors. When the death of screen goddess Jean Harlow jams up the entertainment pages, however, Sweeney must find alternative means to spotlight June. With the help of June's genuine love interest, aspiring writer/production assistant Charlie Patterson, Sweeney schemes to make it look as though a competing studio is aggressively courting June. Sweeney successfully pulls off this stunt and makes an unethical deal with Hollywood gossip reporter Letitia DeVine to broadcast the news over the airwaves of Hollywood.
