A day in court.
Sleepin_Dragon30 April 2024
Jasper attends court, and a not guilty plea is placed, but as the heat is turned up on Christina, he's forced to change his plea. Meanwhile on the inside, Prison Officer Steddon is bludgeoned to death, Jasper completes his own investigation.

I am somewhat disappointed that they decided to bump of Steddon, Lee Ross's character was great, I thought he had a degree of mileage to go, a shame.

Not too difficult to work out who the killer was in this one, the interesting thing was always going to be the fallout, the aftermath.

Jasper is like that prison's answer to Jessica Fletcher, trouble really does follow him around. I'm not sure how much credit Ben Miller has been getting for this, but I thought he was terrific here.

Some terrific music used throughout this episode, great choices, all adding atmosphere.

Is Jasper ever going to get out of that place?

8/10.

Truth and Justice

How can one person come across so many mysteries in the short time he has been in prison.

The seeds of the central mystery were laid in the previous episode. Prison Officer Jon Steddon seemed to be involved in drugs getting smuggled into prison. While Prison Officer Levi Burridge seems to had been aware of this but felt powerless to take Steddon on.

When Steddon is discovered dead by Professor T. Suspicion falls on some of the prisoners who had a beef with Steddon. A prison officer who was bent. He had a dim view of prisoners and their rehabilitation.

At the same time, his trial is taking place. Professor T does not make a plea, so the judge makes one for him. Not guilty. Only it does not go as smoothly as his lawyer hopes.

The trial bit was total pants. There are so many legal dramas on television, this was amateur hour in comparison. I guess that might be more to do with how the original Belgian version dealt with this storyline.

So that leaves the mystery as to who killed Steddon. There really was not much of a mystery there.
