Jaunt me in?

I tried to approach this without preconceptions of the original.Apart from the silly use of a fake key card instead of just using their powers, I enjoyed it up until the point John started beating people up with kung fu moves and it turned into a remake of X-Men or Mutant X rather than The Tomorrow People. At least they kept the no-kill rule, although even that was overdone and turned into a limitation from on high rather than an instinct.

John, self-confessed dick, is played by Luke Mitchell, who has a history of playing unlikeable dicks, unlike the likable dick Nicholas Young played in the original.Maybe it works better when John's the cynic surrounded by innocents, rather than them all being cynics and him just lacking compassion.Sad they couldn't resist making him and Cora an established couple which just invites comparison with the original.(Liz maybe, but Carol?!)Despite the rebranding, I still want to call her Carol, same as I want to call the fourth one Kenny and can't even remember his name.(Was it only mentioned once?)

And then we have Jedekiah.Well, they call him Jedekiah but he's really Colonel Masters. Not that that's a bad thing since Masters was one of the best villains in the original but you just long for a shape-shifting robot. His moral ambiguity is somewhat lacking when he starts shooting people in the head for the sake of it but it'll be interesting to see how he develops.

Of course the focus is on Stephen, a typically unconvincing teenager with a best friend who used to be a nurse on Casualty, and an uncanny resemblance to Peter Parker. His character arc is one of the more interesting, and his dynamic with Cora a lot more convincing than hers with John(love triangle coming up?), so maybe he'll help me judge it as a show in its own right. It needs a lot more to be a good one though.

Warning: Spoilers
Interesting show about powers yes but looks like about family (1 bro with the other I picked up JEALOUSY), making family (which is what is life but too much to explain here if anyone interested or maybe gets what my thinking is). As this is the pilot wonder how the mom and a diff bro will play out in the show, have some ideas myself but will see what they do with the show.

Imagine waking up with weird things happening to you (let alone waking up somewhere else through locks and such), and not having anyone who understands at first, then learning about others like you and then an uncle(?) who could be the bad guy, and hearing a message from your father who by the way was "crazy" (alive or dead??), and all this while still in high school which in itself can be well depending on who you chat with, just say high school. Then there is your mom who went through a lot with your dad and your little bro (both who you love) and how will you explain any of whats going on and keep them safe? Well guess I have to watch next episode to find out what will happen.

So hope this show sticks around awhile, it does have a lot of story it can do, just have a bit more well color is the only thing, no not bright and such unless it part of story line but just like blues and purples and greens an such that can be used to blend in when the characters don't what the "normal" people to "see" them. Well hope u liked my thinking on this if u read it and have a great night/day
