Fun
ITALUKE25 November 2022
I know, it's like Mortal Kombat, it's the same as the previous Super Smash Bros, but I don't care. Tha game came out almost 10 years ago, and it hasn't aged one day. I love the whole idea behind all these characters that come from all these different worlds only to fight each other. They all have a differebt and unique story, all have their strenghts and weaknesses, and they all have a reason they fight. One day I hope I can make something like this, my own game of this genre. Maybe I'll give it the option to play 1v1 like in Mortal Kombat and the other option like Super Smash Bros, but regardless I would love it.

The seemingly always quintessential game for the Nintendo.
The_Light_Triton20 April 2015
First of all, I'd just like to say that today is April 20th, 2015, which means I have officially been a part of the IMDb for 10 years. And i've also achieved "Top Reviewer" on my Page. That is a real Honor & achievement to me.

So to celebrate, my 10th anniversary review will be for the latest installment of the immortal & unstoppable game series, Super Smash Bros. Wii U.

To begin, The SSB Series began in the late 90's, coming off the lapels of other fighting games of the 1990s, but this one was different. if having Nintendo characters as the fighters wasn't enough, the game wasn't about draining your opponents energy bars or performing fatalities - this was about racking up damage and knocking your opponent off the stage. A completely new concept at the time. The game was initially released in Japan, but almost never made it over to the west, until Nintendo made the decision to do so. 16 years later, Nintendo is still releasing the game, with added characters, stages, music, weapons, and game modes, and we still keep on handing them cash over fist...and we love it.

There's not much else to add, it's the same old formula (Hey if it ain't broke, don't fix it) except on the Wii U, Nintendo's latest console. The gameplay is similar to that of Brawl and it feels like it's on the same engine. However, more characters come to the battle, including Megaman, Pac-man, The Xenoblade characters, The Wii fit Trainers and Little Mac from Punch-out.

Sadly, as far as I know, Snake doesn't make a return. He's exclusive to Brawl.

The trophy system's been reworked too, but not to my personal liking. The Trophy coin-op machine from Melee was cool, the coin launcher from Brawl was a real joy, but the new way to acquire trophies feels lazy. You destroy falling boxes on a platform and you pay for the time with coins acquired in battle. So you could rack up a boatload of coins to spend 10 minutes or you could spend a small amount for 10 seconds. Maybe i don't know how to do it, but i still don't like the idea. The coin launcher was much more fun in my opinion.

What I do like is the 8-man mêlée - last Christmas, My cousins and I spent new years eve together, and played a few brawls, 6 people at once - it was revolutionary and I couldn't have been happier to see more than 4 people playing at the same time when the maximum amount of gamers was 4. Nintendo pushed that boundary making a 4-player console standard with the N64 and now they're pushing it further with the Wii U. How many other games will allow 8 people to play at once?

To end this review, I'd love to say that the Super Smash Bros series is one of my personal favorites and deserves all the accolades and love that it gets. it's worth the 60$ you pay for it and you should definitely go get yourself a copy, you will not be disappointed.

This is so good!

If you haven't got this game yet, then I feel bad for you. Talk about a game that brings the right balance to it's characters. It's just pure fun and there are MANY different modes to choose from than in previous Smash Bros games. Such as 8 PLAYER SMASH! Want to throw a party at your house? Then get 8 players all playing through and just have yourself a good time.

This game brings family and friends together for just pure fun. This is something that we need more of within this world and I am happy that Nintendo has gone through with this. Many old favorite characters are still here such as Mario, DK, Link, Samus, etc., but we also have many newcomers such as Robin, Rosalina & Luma, Duck Hunt...the list goes on.

If you do not own this game, you need to right now!

This SSB-game can't be better than this...
chribren20 February 2015
"Super Smash Bros. for Wii U" is a fighting game made for Nintendo Wii U during late 2014. The DS-version was released a few months before, making this the fifth one in the series overall. Like all the other SSB-games, this one was made by Masahiro Sakurai.

Like in the other games, popular video game characters like Mario, Pikachu, Captain Falcon, Zelda and Donkey Kong fight each other. As usual, they can run everywhere in each stages, pick up items, get blasted into the sky, etc. Many old characters appear in the game, as well as newcomers like Rosalina & Luma, Little Mac and Palutena. Together with new stages, several retro stages like 75m, Halberd and Norfair (one of my favorite stages from "Brawl") appear as well with improved graphics.

As much as I often did with "Brawl" for Wii, I pretty much enjoy this game which I got as a Christmas gift. The HD graphics in the game are just as great as it could be, somewhat improved since the Wii-epoch. There is a great selection of multiple characters, stages, music and items. And as if that wasn't enough, there is a great selection of different game modes to play on, including "Classic Mode", "Smash Tour", "Target Blast", "8-Player Smash", "Multi-Man Mode", "Special Orders" and a drastically different variant of "Stage Builder" to name some.

Speaking about some of the modes: "Smash Tour" plays as a board game where players use a Mii character. The "Classic Mode" is a little bit different from how it was in the previous games I've played, but very funny. "Target Blast" is also a bit different as instead of hitting every single targets in fastest possible time, you use a bomb on multiple targets at once. Up to eight players can fight on the versus mode.

This is a game I will pretty much recommend to anyone who owns a Wii U-console, mainly due to all the fun one can have with this. My overall rating: A full 10/10. Let the battle begin...

Super Hash Bros
ThunderKing66 August 2021
Coming after Brawl which was a legendary game. Wii U Smash was not bad, but it has missing features and mechanics that made Brawl a legend. I didn't out play this game as I did with Brawl.

It has more characters, although some characters from previous titles are absent. The final Smash's were hash and were depowered. Even though I hated being on the receiving end of Pikachu or Sonic's final smash, it's unfortunate that they weakened the final smash's and made it easier to avoid.

After paying 60 dollars for this game you'll have to pay an addition for other characters. Yeah, cash grab.

Overall a good game but coming after Brawl its a step down.

Exact same
aj-comiskey22 November 2014
It is exact same as both brawl and melee. It is a straight up copy of mortal Kombat. They use poor Nintendo characters to sell the games. The platforms are ridiculous, they are simply all the same. I don't know how they made multiple games out of this franchise.nit is a tedious, tedious game. Do not buy this games as you will regret it after 2 hours of boring gameplay. They use the same concept of making stages for each stage, ' some space to fall off, a bit of land, done''. I would like to see this games discontinued and everyone that bought it should return it, if they have not done so already. It may seem different to mortal Kombat at a glance but when you release that they use the same gameplay mechanics 'trouble tap y, x and a'. I have chose 1 out of 10 because the gameplay is just not good, they have ripped off all buyers and especially all of the fans. Nintendo a thieving fools and should be stopped at once,
