Ninjas Play Free
jflorescia5 April 2017
With beautiful graphics, superb combat and movement mechanics, and a variety of awesome powers at your fingertips, Warframe – a free-to- play, multi-platform, fast-paced, four-player co-op shooter – stands out like a shining beacon among many free-to-play games. It's only too bad that the game's tendency towards repetition hinders its appeal.

In Warframe you play as a Tenno, ancient warriors, clad in unique armor, that have awakened from a long slumber to calm the chaos that's ravaging the solar system. Your adversaries include the Grineer: an army of deteriorating humanoid clones; the Corpus: a mix-and-match crew of robotic and human parts; the Infestation: a mound of awkward organic creatures; and the Orokin: mysterious drones that appear at random.

While your enemies are plentiful, taking them out is relatively easy thanks to the game's smooth combat mechanics. You have the freedom to perform an array of acrobatic maneuvers: wall running, jump kicks, leaping slashes, and more.

As you proceed through a mission, you might pause for a moment to admire the environment around you. For good reasons, too, since Warframe has a gorgeously detailed graphics that's often lit up by a colorful explosion of enemy fire and player ability effects. Though, some tweaking might be required to see properly.

A handful of recent major updates has added several repeatable side quests to Warframe, that also double as the game's story. Although repeatable, the game's repetitive enemies, missions, and environments will soon wear anyone down. Without new contents to keep you captivated the excitement will disappear. Keep in mind the game is still technically in beta, so contents are still being added. As of now, Warframe is best played casually to keep burning out at bay.

Excellent world, game, story and characters but a lot of grindwork required to get there
tpindustries12 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
My expectations adjusted rapidly with warframe, I had only started playing it because it was free and some friends had played it, the game works well as both single player and multiplayer, early on in the game was a lot of grindwork and repetitive mission structures and although the setting was kind of intriguing and the gameplay was fun and there were a few memorable performances (usually a lot of the antagonists, Vay Hek, Alad V, Tyl Regor, etc. All had wonderful chaotic performances) there was a lot of repetition and grindwork and I kind of aimlessly continued while my interest faded

Until I started The Second Dream, that was the point where the game and the story began to feel a lot more polished and fulfilling, the main character, the tenno, had merely been a vessel for completing objectives up until that point where we form an emotional bond with them and see them at their most vulnerable, and the second dream left a large impact on me as a person if I'm honest, despite the frustrating grind to get there it was well worth it and I'm glad that the moment had not been spoiled for me

All subsequent quests such as the war within, the new war, etc. Had followed this trend of being more cinematic, more emotional and more character-driven, but again they required a lot of grindwork and repetitive missions to get there.

There's almost no limit to this game, it's always being updated and expanded to add new features, and while the graphics may be dated in some aspects and not up to current AAA standards, they hold up extraordinarily well for a game released in 2013 and the art style is very strong, the developers are clearly still very passionate about Warframe as a project and intend to tell meaningful, important stories with it, and I'm glad they've stayed so dedicated to it.

Also probably some of the most customisation I've seen in a game.

Amazing design, graphics, and story!
ladyrobutts4 October 2018
Warframe is the best free-to-play games that I've encountered. It is NOT pay-to-win, like many other games and apps are, and there are no story expansions to pay for. Every Warframe, weapon, and all the equipment can be obtained and built for free--it just takes time. You can get a lot of the cosmetics for free, too, you just have to be patient!

The game has beautiful graphics, even on low settings, and the environment and character designs are wonderfully unique. No two Warframes look the same, even if you're wearing the same frame as someone else--the customization options are impressive, even if you don't sink any platinum (the game's purchasable currency option, as opposed to the credits you earn on missions) into cosmetics. The music and sound engineering is also great, adding so much to the atmosphere of missions and quests.

Warframe's writing is fantastic. The main quests (referred to as cinematic quests because they include dramatic cutscenes instead of the characters just speaking over comms) are rich with lore, and there hasn't been a single one that hasn't made me feel a lot of emotions--several have them have even brought me to tears.

I highly recommend the game to everyone. If you like third-person shooter games, action games, sci-fi games, RPGs, aliens, robots... It's not an inherently competitive game (they do have PVP modes, but they're not mandatory), so it's still fun for people who don't like fighting other people. It has something for just about everyone, and it's a great game to play with friends.

Some tips for newbies
myke-6111523 August 2016
I won't lie, I LOVE this game and am slightly biased. I also play the PS4 port of the game. It's free-to-play, comes with a variety of play styles and characters and the community is a fairly helpful/good one.

Sadly, there are a couple of points that NEED to be talked about for new players.

-If you're a COD (Call of Duty) player, you'll probably get easily lost in the detailed, procedurally generated maps and levels (not to mention the menus) because of a tutorial that will only teach you the minor basics. Be sure to learn what ALL the buttons do on your controller/keyboard and even check the in game Codex.

-Depending on your playstyle... You WILL get bored. This game is an MMORPG afterall. You can easily avoid this by challenging yourself and trying new tactics/Warframes.

-Almost ALL items in the game can be made, instead of bought (some people claim it's a pay-to-win game). But the means of doing so could be convoluted to anyone unfamiliar to the way the game works. Be sure to check FORUMS, the CODEX and even make use of the Communication Tab to get help from actual players.

-Learn the difference between PLATINUM and CREDITS. PLATINUM is when you exchange real money for a means of purchasing in the market. CREDITS are the IN-GAME CURRENCY YOU EARN.

Other than that I can't think of any other "flaws" to the game. I personally give it a 9/10.

One of the best F2P games and communities out there!
UndercoverZombie14 June 2020
First of all it's free, so anyone can play it. It's not pay to win - anything you need in game can be obtained without spending a dime. People who choose to spend money do so mostly to support the devs.

That brings me to my second point, the devs are great. The game is constantly updated with major patches very often and they engage with and listen to the community. And the community is amazing as well, compared to most games. There are also a lot of dedicated websites and an always up to date wiki.

Lastly, the graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is great, you get to choose how you want to play from a plethora of weapons, warframes and mods, as well as the newly added railjack (your own personal battleship). All you need is patience.

In this game you are a tenna a warrior fighting for the Galaxy
DjDarkrai106 March 2016
This game is beautiful! The gameplay is amazing the parkour is fun and the storyline is strong 11/10 for me! I love this game! And it's free! It's so good! all in all BEST GAME EVER OTHER THAN DESTINY!!!!!!!!!!!!! So yes I recommend it Basically you are tenna a alien race and you must stop vorg from destroying the galaxy with weapons! I chose the Excalibur class You should play it. Also if you get it and don't like gore you can go to options and turn off gore. That is the only reason I'm allowed to play it. So yeah also I would have finished this review but IMDb is making me make it ten lines long. So about two more lines. Also if you want a more social game than buy destiny.

A boring, lifeless husk of a game.
Analog_Devotee3 August 2021
This game is boring and lifeless. I have no idea how it's managed to garner so many fans over the years. Gameplay is repetitive and boring as all get out. Don't waste your time -- there are much better games out there that are worthy of your time.

Space Ninjas!!!!
evoraidz8 July 2018
Back when I first started playing Warframe on Xbox one, I had different opinions about it. I rarely ever played it, but when I did, I had some fun. That was back in 2015. And I recently I have gotten a PlayStation 4, and this game. This game has changed a lot. I love it now.

Enough about me, now, about the game. You play as a Warframe, or "tenno". You are a space ninja that must travel across planets to unlock cool gear, new Warframes and more. There are multiple quests, missions, and planets. You can be a stealthy ninja in a mission, or go guns blazing with an assault rifle. It has mixtures of all types of games. But best of all, it's FREE!!

Now, if you love RPGS, third person shooters, or action games. Warframe is right for you. But be sure to contect your friends before trying, because you all will love it. Definitely play either the PS4 version or PC, feels a lot better than Xbox.

Devs does not respect palyer's time spent in the game.
inajana-7338731 December 2021
The game does not reward enough for your time spent and each update they decrease more and more the efficiency, for example: AYA. They add this currency to nerf relics farm , now you have to play twice as much to get the same prime parts you get directly from relics farm. They nerfed AYA drop in ghouls bounty because it was an easy way to get when it arrived. ANY weapon, warframe or synergy that gets popular they nerf them because you are not supposed to do those 10000 needed missions to progress, so fast. They don't listen to the community, they don't try to improve, they don't play their own game, because as I said, you have to play 10000 times between 6/7 missions over and over under terrible RNG, and the drop table are just garbage: 50% to get 2k, 3k credits drop????? You get that in one single capture run (you finish it under 1 minute)!!!! And those sh1tty drops come as reward, it is more like punishment to play their game. They don't respect our time, money and effort to make this game enjoyable. They don't fix their game, they keep focusing in gamemodes that no one plays only to not fix the spaghetti code game that it has become. It is impossible to have fun after you finish the quests. Play any other game, anything will reward you properly, at progress, or joy, this game won't. Their live stream "playing" (opening relics and playing updates, they don't live stream progress - which is grinding, pray to get what you need and level stuff ONLY) are so lifeless, there is no joy in their faces. The only thing that works in the game are the people behind art and visuals, since this is what brings people to this lifetime-sucker called Warframe.

Ninjas in Space
kervindonngo25 November 2023
Back then I saw this game on YouTube and it actually looked so promising and as I played it really did.

Warframe is absolutely surprisingly addictive to play. And I could not even stop playing it. Not only I can fight and play this game by using melee weapons like a ninja but I can actually use guns in the game as well and I can actually jetpack like in space missions too.

This game also has something motivating on farming more materials and getting the chance to trade items from other players and even leveling up weapons and even Waframes for my Tenno.

However, the biggest downside that this game has is that most of everything is that I need is platinum. I had to give up so many of my weapons to fit more space and I even gave up selling my old Warframe I really regret selling it because the old Warframe was very useful. And I remembered that the old map changed into a new map which is more of an open space universe map rather than picking levels I had no choice but to start all over for the map picking

Waframes is an absolutely addicting game but sometimes in this game, you have to take on your choices of loot responsibility and buying and spending platinum wisely.

Warframe is a solid game that does not really have any replayability so I have no reason to really even play this game half the time only if I was bored or once in a while so I give warframe a 6.5

Possibly the greatest video game of all time
littlelucky-3697627 October 2023
As a gamer, I've always been drawn to Warframe, and it seems I share this passion with my friend Owen. The moment I step into the futuristic world of the game, I'm captivated. The Warframes, these unique exoskeletons that grant me special abilities, add a thrilling twist to my gaming experience. It's no wonder Owen is so hooked on it.

The graphics in Warframe are nothing short of stunning. The meticulous attention to detail in the design of the Warframes and the environments never fails to impress me. It's these aspects that make the game so appealing to Owen and me.

The variety of missions and quests that Warframe offers keeps me engaged and constantly on my toes. Every time I embark on a new mission, it feels like a fresh new challenge. This is another reason why Owen and I find ourselves coming back to Warframe time and again.

In conclusion, Warframe is more than just a game for me and Owen. It's an immersive experience that keeps us engaged and entertained. And every time I play, I'm reminded of why Owen loves it so much. The cooperative gameplay is another aspect of Warframe that I, and of course Owen, find particularly engaging. Teaming up with friends to complete missions adds a whole new level of excitement and camaraderie to the game. It's always a joy to see Owen's enthusiasm when we team up for a mission.

The game's developers, Digital Extremes, have done an excellent job of keeping the game fresh and exciting. They regularly release updates and expansions, adding new Warframes, weapons, and quests. This constant evolution of the game is something that both Owen and I appreciate.

The in-game economy in Warframe is also well-designed. It strikes a good balance between rewarding player effort and encouraging strategic resource management. Owen often talks about how this aspect of the game adds an extra layer of depth to the gameplay.

The community surrounding Warframe is another big draw for me and Owen. The players are generally friendly and helpful, and there's a strong sense of camaraderie among Tenno (the in-game name for players). It's always great to share experiences and strategies with fellow players, including Owen.

In conclusion, Warframe is a game that continues to impress me with its depth, variety, and community. It's a game that Owen and I can't seem to get enough of. Every time I log in, I'm reminded of why it's Owen's favorite game.

Addictive in the Most Broken Way
BadgerStorm434514 April 2020
Warframe is a repetitive game where you do the same things over and over again for a reward that seems like it's satisfying. At the end of the day you won't feel satisfied for playing Warframe as there will always be something else to do and the way you go about this is doing the same 6 reskinned missions for 10 hours.

Ban and extortion of money.
slayer-1431511 February 2023
First, they introduced an exchange, then they wrote off everything that I had changed, they took the platinum balance to a minus and they demand that I deposit this amount)) Extortionists! Not otherwise. I've never seen such a brutal attitude in any game. "Good luck to you" developed.

Considering how much time has been invested in this game, this is just a disappointment. The game itself is not bad, grind, resource gathering and stuff like that. But it doesn't matter anymore. No one in any game has yet demanded to deposit money, which he himself stole.

Play with caution and hope you get it right.

From Ok to Rotten
mrhappycritter8 November 2022
The game has gotten worse one update after another. They come out with content they claim they have bug fixes . They don't. They recently re introduced old bugs that are worse than when they were first discovered. Get 4 or 5k hours and watch everything you worked for gone in a bugged update only to shout at deaf Devs that don't seem to care .

They have a model a plan and you don't fit the model or plan so see ya sucker . My 24k plat will rot in my account because I won't be logging in again . DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME ITS TRASH . Look up Damage stack bug on you tube see for yourself . Build a frame get some weapons put on some damage stacking archanes with some galvanized mods and watch your damage decrease to nothing in 3 shots or hits with a melee . Make it worse by adding archon shards to your warframe . Anyhow it is made for new players and as you progress the GAME BREAKS . It's like eating cake and hidden in the cake is a mouthful of razor blades . At some point you will find that wrong bite and you will find the Devs don't care the players that haven't got any apparent issues treat you like your just dumb and those that know just stop playing .

This makes for lots of new suckers to find out the hard way the game steals your time and effort and in some cases money while driving off old players . On the surface looks like a nice cake but don't be fooled it's trash you should avoid .
