- Auggie finds out his former partner, whom he loved and saw shot, is still alive. Annie works with her to locate missing weapons that Henry might be selling to terrorists. Calder learns Annie is lying about events from a previous mission.
- Auggi is shocked to learn that his once field partner and lover Helen Hanson, whom he saw fatally shot on a mission in Rome, is not only alive but was Tigo's Colombian contact Teresa, so he furiously lashes out at Arthur, who admits having staged it with her. She now teams up with Annie, as Interpol agent viz. client, to lure Viennese arms dealer Sabino Laurent into dumping his rockets rather then sell them to the actual Colombian terrorists which Henry funds. Meanwhile the risk of exposure forces Auggie and Annie to consider if they can keep collaborating as lovers.—KGF Vissers
- Annie comes home to Auggie and catches him up about her meeting with Henry and that he mentioned Auggie's ex Helen Hansen. Auggie assures Annie he hasn't spoken to her because, as he said, she's dead. Annie asks for a photo. The woman in the photo is Theresa Hamilton, the go between for Arthur and Teo. She's still alive.
Piazza di Trevi Rome, 2006
Auggie, before he was blind, meets up with Theresa. They're prepping for a mission, but he promises they'll come back some day not for work. He gives her a locket to remember his promise. He notices Theresa seems out of sorts, but she says she's fine.
She goes to meet their contact at a café but he takes the bag she brought and takes off running. She follows him, Auggie follows her, running through the streets of Rome. They separate to cut the man off and Auggie hears gunshots. He comes on the scene and hears repeated shots and sees a woman lying bloodied in the street. He tries to run for her, but the cops knock him out. He woke up in a jail cell and two days later, he got him out. He's the one who told Auggie she was dead. They know from the photos in the file form Henry that he's seen her recently.
Annie and Auggie go to see Arthur. Auggie punches him in the face, then tells him everything. It was Helen's idea to fake her death and work from the shadows. She's been working sensitive counter-proliferation operations. She looked into the five missing missiles from Vienna. She found out Henry hired a man named Sabino Meurrat to steal them from Lyons. He wants Annie to go to Lyons with Helen, her importer-exporter cover makes her perfect for the mission. They worry that Henry will frame Henry for getting missiles for a known terrorist, his son Teo. Annie wants to go.
Later, outside, Auggie is still angry that Arthur has been lying to him for seven years with no good reason.
Annie tries to start a relationship talk, but she's leaving in two hours.
Auggie comes home to his loft and finds Helen waiting for him. Arthur called her. She tells Auggie their marriage was just a cover for her. "You would say I love you when no one else is around, how is that part of your cover?" he asks.
She tells him he saw what he wanted to see. He assures her Annie will keep up with her, and then some.
Annie meets Helen on a private jet and hands her a file on Sabino, the head of Interpol's chief munitions officer. She'll go in as her cover and ask about her missing missiles and Helen will go in as an MI6 agent investigating them.
Annie asks Helen why she went dark seven years ago. Helen wants to stay focused on the mission. Helen knows she turned down Henry's job offer, she thinks she made an emotional decision.
Barber and xx show up at Auggie's house. He emailed them yesterday about a super secret poject. He shows them the corner of the jungle photo they found on Seth Newman's flash drive.
Back at Langley, Calder Michaels watches Annie's testimony about how she killed Stavros and Gunter in Vienna. He picks up the phone and calls an agent in Vienna wanting the crime scene photos. They look at them together. They were shot with a .45. Annie testifies it was Gunter's gun, but he was found with a .9 mm, Calder is suspicious.
Annie stops Sabino on the street in Lyons and tells him she wants her missile launchers back. He denies it and blows her off, but she leaves her number to make a deal.
At Interpol Headquarters, Helen intercepts as Emily Howard with MI6 and asks him about the launchers. She says his boss authorized it, and he calls to confirm it. They make plans for dinner at 8p.
When Helen leaves, Sabino calls Annie.
Helen sees Henry on the way out of Interpol's offices (she leaves Arthur a message saying his old pal, Sabino's boss, paid him back the favor he owed him).
At Auggie's house, Barber pries about Annie then tells him he hit the jackpot if it's true. Auggie sends them out for pizza and goes in to Langley.
Auggie asks Joan how Annie was assigned to him. She says Annie needed someone to ground her and he needed to be pushed out of his comfort zone. She says some relationship survive at Langley, but some don't.
Back at his apartment, the nerds have figured out how to zoom into the photo. It's Henry Wilcox in the jungle with a Latino guy.
Helen breaks protocol and visits Annie at her safehouse to warn her Henry is in town. Helen thinks it's a set up and wants to end the op, but Annie refuses.
Helen tells Annie about them planting a bug in a man's office in Rome seven years ago. Auggie planted the bug, she was supposed to plant the signal relay. She heard the target come home and raced down to save Auggie, only to run into the guy on his way out of his building -- he never went upstairs, he just picked up a package. She grabbed it and ran from him to save her cover and fought him when he caught up. Two weeks later, the target saw her on campus -- her cover was blown, but Auggie's wasn't. Every day she stayed, she put Auggie in danger. So even though she loved him, she faked her own death.
She says going dark has allowed her to do things she never thought possible. She's still wearing Auggie's necklace. Helen tells Annie there are other ways to beat Henry than staying in Lyons. Annie refuses to leave, and Helen refuses to be part of her "emotional decision."
Annie goes to meet Sabino at a seaplane, with his money. He tells her that after this, his business with Henry is finished. He pulls a gun, but she's waiting for it and disarms him. He fights back and they end up in the water. He's choking her when bullets pierce the water. Helen saves her. They check the cargo, but the launchers aren't there.
Later, Helen tells Annie that Helen knows she'll run through brick walls for Auggie and he's going to use it against her. She has to pick getting Henry or being with Auggie.
Auggie brings Arthur his work with the nerd. The man Henry was with was Eduardo Vargas, an ALC terrorist. Arthur apologizes to Auggie for hiding what happened to Helen, but says he doesn't regret it. He tells Arthur he can never trust him again.
Auggie comes home to find Annie waiting for him. She tells him about her doubts. He knows Helen raised the issue about being a spy meaning you can't have love. Auggie isn't sure she's wrong. Spies don't have normal lives. They're both torn. But it's over.
Annie grabs her stuff and leaves. They're both in tears.
