Set against the backdrop of a fading Americana town, a teenage scavenger spends his nights digging through trash, illuminated only by the overhead glow of a strange contraption not unlike a fishing rod, which emerges from his backpack like the light of an angler fish. As day breaks, the boy returns to an abandoned warehouse teeming with row after row of neatly organized bottles and cans, each sorted by their respective trade-in values. Driven by a quiet determination, the boy's nightly escapades continue, bolstered in part by the stoic support of his grandmother. Soon, his collection of discarded junk reaches a critical mass, unmasking a hidden purpose known only to him.
