Guy Michelmore was one of five celebrities to make their sole appearance on the panel during series eight. The others were Bernard Manning (8.7), Fred Feast (8.8), Emily Bolton (8.10) and Jimmy Cricket (8.11).
During the filming of series eight, Les was taken into hospital for a prostate operation that eventually led to him being placed in intensive care. He recalled in his 1985 autobiography "A Clown Too Many" that after the operation "Ten minutes later I was in the intensive care ward, my kidneys had ceased to function, my blood pressure was almost nil and I was fighting for my life."
Les recovered, though the eighth series saw only ten episodes recorded ( Episode #8.11 (1985) was filmed as part of the seventh series.) This episode has the distinction of being the first to air after Les was admitted to hospital, with him being taken to Preston Royal Hospital the day before this edition aired.
