Crimes of the Century: The State of Texas vs. Andrea Yates (2013)
Perhaps one of the most hated people in America is the Texas mom Andrea Yates who murdered her five children, one after another in a bath that she drew after her husband left for work. As the documentary correctly states, most people can't understand how a parent could kill their own child but Yates ended up killing five, which certainly puts her on a different level. The documentary from CNN features interviews with the police who were working the scene as well as Yates' husband who at the time had several people hating him. It's very possible that even more people are going to hate him as he seems perfectly okay with what Yates did or at least he doesn't appear visually upset. It's strange seeing him defend his wife and blames others for her actions, which is just downright shocking. As with the first two films in the series, this one here really doesn't tell us anything we don't already know but there's no question that it's extremely well-made and certainly contains some nice drama. The interviews are certainly the highlight of the film as you really do get a great sense of what it was like for those first officers who discovered the five bodies.
