Crimes of the Century: THe Prosecution of Amanda Knox (2013)

This episode in CNN's documentary series takes a look at the American Amanda Knox who while visiting Italy was accused of killing her roommate with the help of her lover and a third man. This case drew world-wide attention due to a number of reasons including the mystery, the sexuality and of course the fact that there was an "ugly American" in a foreign location having to play by their rules and laws. It's funny but I've followed this case right from the start and it's somewhat amazing to see how the media changed their opinions on it. At first, even the American media was painting Knox as a murderer and then in the next year or so it seems everyone changed their opinion and we got the "free Amanda" chants. The entire thing really does seem like a frame-up by the prosecutor who appears to have gotten a wild story in his head and refused to look at any of the evidence and instead just make up any excuse for his "idea" to be a reality. Did Knox act like an idiot? Oh, I certainly think so and it appears most people agree that her actions didn't make a bit of sense and especially when you're considered a leading suspect. As with the previous entries in the series, this one here is extremely well-made, features some very good interviews and we also gets clips of Knox talking after she was released.
