NEARLY PERFECT

A brilliant end to a great series. The storyline mainly featuring Jean and Dom was excellent, full of twists and turns, and the ending was wonderful. The only reason this wasn't a 10 was because of the inclusion of Jeremy and Judith. Why do they have to make their characters so unwatchable. The stupid and unnecessary scene with Jeremy and Judith at the doctors added nothing to the plot and should have been omitted. Their characters can be ok when they are not being completely obnoxious. However, the rest of the cast including Gloria and Patrick, are worth watching. I hope that thete us going to be another series of thus excellent drama, possibly writing out Jeremy or Judith or at least making their characters more watchable.

Brilliant

With so many 'who-dunnit' series on TV, I always love it when a mystery show offers something different and this episode is a great example. There are several equally intriguing subplots, but the balance here is better than in previous seasons. Touching some sadness along the way, the realistic set of complexities amongst the characters is handled well and the warmth/humours moments keep everything in check. Tony Robinson's more regular role as Patrick is a really good addition because he has lots of appropriate backstory plus offers contrast to the couples bringing the uncle/nephew scenario. I would have liked to see more of Gloria and her dog Douglas for added variety. I hope we get more of The Madame Blanc Mysteries as this is the best year yet.

Loved the ending

What a wonderful way to end this great series. I really hope that there will be a series 4. I agree with another reviewer about Judith and her husband being so incredibly annoying. I know they're supposed to be comic relief and I actually think the series would be dull without them. They add color and a bit of fun. Gloria is the one I can't stand. Not a good actress and that goofy grin is just too annoying for words. On the other hand she doesn't really get good material so... I love Jean and Dom. They're wonderful actors and their characters have excellent scripts with which to work. The addition of Patrick this year was fabulous. He's terrific.

The mystery was fine and interesting. You have to suspend disbelief at how easily coincidences fall into Jean's lap but that's fine. It's a 45 minute show after all!

I expected a backstory on Uncle Patrick and this episode opened with a flashback set some years earlier. Uncle Patrick was present when Theo Ludovic lashed out on a woman and struck her dead.

He was imprisoned for 30 years. Now due to be released he has contacted Patrick and he is worried.

On the night Theo fled. He had given Patrick some money to look after and a document. That document turned out to be some kind of a treasure map.

Jean decides to have a crack at deciphering it. Maybe her own cottage could be the location of some treasure. The window tax is an important clue.

This was the series finale, it was all very amiable and light but nothing too exciting. I noticed a lot of character arcs were not wrapped up. Just what was the deal between Gloria and her American boyfriend?
