- "Love in Absentia" is the story of an artist who is creating brilliant works of art in seclusion. Alone in her San Francisco studio, Adelaide (played by Kate Melia), tries to find comfort in her paintings and private journal. Her only real human connection is through interactions with a homeless musician, Rusty (played by Mike Mattingly), who hangs out by the cafe where she works. When Adelaide loses her job and can no longer afford to pay rent, she is pushed to the brink. Then she disappears.
An art blogger, Elliott (played by Jerry Mc Daniel), discovers Adelaide's purse washed up on Baker Beach near the Golden Gate Bridge. He attempts to return the purse to its owner, but instead finds Adelaide's menacing housemate, Jill (played by Jasmin Bristow), who is only interested in one thing: Adelaide's back-owed rent. Instead of expressing concern, Jill throws away all of Adelaide's belongings. Moved by this act of insensitivity, he gathers the missing artist's personal items, and takes everything home with him.
Over the course of studying her artwork and reading her journal, Elliott begins to fall in love with the missing artist. He eventually recruits the help of his longtime friend, Detective Mike Lunardi (played by Anthony Santucci) who looks into the case, but advises Elliott to keep his expectations low.
Meanwhile, Elliott grows more and more obsessed. In order to keep himself from going crazy, he begins to feature Adelaide's work in his art blog, subsequently exposing her work for the first time. She becomes a media sensation! - A gallery-event for unknown artists pushes her work further into the spotlight, and it becomes clear that this lost artist has a promising future...
