If you watch shows about video games and lists, you will find this game among the tops as far as games for the Nintendo Entertainment System. I am not sure what the adoration is for as it is a fun game, do not get me wrong, but it is not all that much better the original. I actually found the original more challenging than this one, but as I said it is a worthy successor. To me, part III really is the one that ramped it up a notch while this one just features a few more levels.
The story has Dr. Wily back for revenge and if you know how many games there are in the series, you know he likes to come back often! He has created eight robots in this one to try and dispose of Megaman so once again Megaman must go through stages that seem to take on characteristics of the final enemy robot in the level. Once again, though, poor Dr. Wily makes robots that have a weak point that when exploited can result in some of the super robots going down with two or three hits! Megaman must defeat these eight robots though, so then he can confront Dr. Wily in his skull fortress!
The game play is similar to the first game with the notable differences being the addition of two more stages during the stage select and a larger final later for Megaman to get through. Megaman also now can get an energy tank to refuel his life in the middle of a stage if nothing is leaving behind energy and instead of just a magnet beam, this time Professor Light will upgrade Megaman and give him the power to use different platforms to aid him in his quest.
So, while I do not share the enthusiasm of others who have played this game, I do enjoy it a lot. It contains different stages to really test your patients at time, but some of the levels really end quickly. The boomerangs are one of the more awesome weapons in this one as are the metal blades and these two help immensely in several of the levels!
