Great fun, classic Castle with sour end
darth-birder29 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I loved the episode until the very last minutes, it is a funny one, with a bit of Dan Brown, some National treasure, and lots of good old Richard Castle. In a few words, dead body, symbols that lead to riddles that lead to a treasure? wow sounds great entertainment. Well, yes! it has action, fun and you see Castle fencing lol. Now, the ending, awkward moment between dad and daughter, and here I am thinking unless the writers are planning something big (like turning hideous-unbearable Pi character into a serial killer that has been deceiving everyone to get close to Castle or something like that).. well, they are ruining the beautiful relationship we have enjoyed between Castle and Alexis. It is understandable that she rebels a bit, or a lot, as she's 19, but the last scene was too much. He was too soft, ridiculously submissive. Man up Castle! She is not 30, only 19 but lectures dad? nope, I don't buy that. She is a spoiled brat (ok, his fault), but she used to be the "rational" and "mature" here. She also questions Beckett now? and Beckett could not be more indifferent regarding Castle's problems. Not supportive at all, come on they are engaged! Again, I had great fun watching this episode and the end left me with a sour taste, almost ruining the whole experience

Entertaining episode....

Warning: Spoilers
Was a fun episode.... Except for Alexis.... She sucks the air out of the room with her bratiness and ignorance. It's not bad watching the show first time through, but rewatching it, makes her scenes painful.

Castle, please met National Treasure and Indiana Jones!
Oddelg29 October 2013
This was yet another good episode. But still one of the adventurous ones. Not sure how much I like that.

Alexis has ignored her father's advice, and moved in with Pi in a shared apartment. Daughter and father does not come a long too good. I guess this will be resolved soon and they will be friends, but what about this week's case?

Caskett and Espo/Ryan are hunting down the killer of a woman who seems to be crucified. But with an early National Treasure-reference, we can kind of see where this is going.

(This has nothing with the plot of the episode to do, but if you have seen National Treasure 2 where they find the hole in the mountain and Cage takes his hand in and screams to trick the others, that exact same thing happens in this episode of Castle)

Well, I liked this. No full score from me since it is way too unrealistic with hidden stone-wall passages and etc. But overall a good plot/episode.

Teenage rebellion at last
brueggemanntami8 January 2022
The case was interesting, however this episode was really more about the relationship between father and daughter.

Alexis had a point. She has put up with a lot from her father over the years. She has always gone along with his craziness, even when she didn't understand or agree with the things that he did. It's his turn to accept the changes in her life. Kate also had a point. The more Castle objects to Pi, the longer he will be around.

Anyone who has ever been a teenager in love knows that first relationships are not about winning parental favor. In fact, just the opposite. It is about breaking away from your parents and trying to find your own path. In fact, often the closer the bonds are between parent and child, the more extreme lengths they may go to in order to declare their freedom and independence. It's all part of growing up and discovering who you are. And who you want to be.

Castle needs to take a step back and allow Alexis to figure out where she is going. She has always been an extremely intelligent overachiever. Right now she is exploring the dreamer side of her personality that she has kept suppressed. She will probably grow tired of Pi in a short time. They really don't have a lot in common. Unless her dad keeps pushing that is. Then she will be forced to continue defending him as a way of standing up for herself and her right to make her own choices.

This spoiled brat Alexis
nemesis-888 April 2022
This spoiled brat Alexis is REALLY annoying. Her father gave her everything - expensive private school, Ivy League university, trips to Europe. I bet even her poopsies wore Dior when she was little. But NO, that's not enough. The millionnaire daddy must also accept her bee-counting hippie boyfriend. And if he doesn't, he doesn't even get an invitation to her roach-motel of an apartment to talk. And then she blackmails him with his own relationship with his girlfriend. Is that how ABC/Disney see healthy relationships between parents and children?

Yes please! Writers, get a clue!!
jadejr-450536 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Although entertaining with the twists & turns (I'm actually surprised it took this long for them to mention Freemasons) It would be nice to have the writers do at least a google search on the symbols they use to get a smidge of history before they just throw them into the script.

Not to mention the typical, see a pentagram and yell "satanic cult!", REALLY!?! I find it ironic that an episode about history, is so historically incorrect. It IS possible to write an incredibly good show & not insult an entire religion at the same time.

Also, completely agree with the other reviews regarding the ending, Alexis went from 0-60 on the spoiled brat scale.
