Too Much to Absorb and Some Shoddiness
Hitchcoc8 November 2022
I, also, really enjoyed most of this concluding chapter. The problem is that the interconnectedness of all entities gets in the way of a clean conclusion. There were too many Russians and too much backstory to sort through. I guess the answer would be to watch the whole thing over. That said, there isn't much more tension in a TV show than this. The violence is hard to deal with at times. The main reason I dropped it a point or two (then again, who am i?) was the utter carelessness of people. Cooper, for instance, in the most dangerous of situations completely lets his guard down. And why were all those guys running around that dance club, leaving escape avenues all over and getting the young woman killed. I'll be interested to see how Season Two came off.

An addendum to the original review
foamythefearsome26 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I've reviewed part 1 of the finale, and the contents of that review cover most of this episode as well. However, I wanted to add a remark about this episode in particular:

Whereas the overall story of the finale as a whole is still strong, I felt a bit disappointed that this conclusion was not really a conclusion. It felt a lot like the ending here was originally written as a placeholder in case the show got renewed for more seasons, and that it was brought in play when that turned out to be the case. It felt like the series was written so that this season alone could've covered a complete story, which is clever, but in this case unfortunately resulted in a part 2 that did not live up to the expectations brought forth by the start of the finale.

Despite that, it still had a lot of action, the loss of a regular, and the eerie vibe that the criminals in this show bring us. All in all definitely not a bad episode, but I wanted to give it a separate review for the suboptimal conclusion.

Dissonance finally strikes == weak end to GREAT first season
A_Different_Drummer22 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Before any die-hard fans get testy, the IMDb database will show that I have reviewed several individual episodes of Season 1 and overall found BLACKLIST to be one of the most entertaining and best-written shows of the current generation.

But this ending to the first season was a major disappointment. I always call em as I see em and that is the upshot.

The problem appears to be the age-old conflict between the long arc and the short arc. Having balanced the two so nicely for the entire series to date, the producers clearly felt the need to devote the final two episodes of the season to the long arc and the mystery grudge-killer/plotter "Berlin." They needn't have bothered. Because the episode was ultimately messy, out of balance, and overall not very satisfying.

They killed off a regular (which unfortunately has become the "in" thing to do in the current generation of TV), put another regular in the hospital, and, by the time the final credits roll, STILL leave the long arc unresolved...? So much effort for... what? They brought Alan Alda back on screen for very little payback .... ditto for the "Tom Keene" character whose appearance was wasted, with virtually no dialog .... staged an awkward scene involving a dog and a Russian ambassador which is far below the usual standards of the series .... created a "legend" of a villain that could rival Bane from BATMAN THE DARK KNIGHT .... allowed Red to get captured and then escape .... teased one more time about who Lizzie's father really is .... and for what?????????

Even the finale where Red goes all Clint Eastwood and takes down a secure facility COMPLETELY ON HIS OWN seems somehow a little offkey??

As a reviewer I prefer to observe that this disjointed episode only makes the earlier efforts in the series stand out by comparison, and fans would have hoped that, as the series chugged along into the upcoming season, the writers would have learnt their lesson and never make the same mistakes again.

Ridiculous plots twists...
dallasjbhcell25 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The ridiculous plots twists in this series have become less and less believable. Don't like how the story line evolved...? Just rewrite the prior layers of the story like a new take on dream sequences... This episode was the final straw... Great show turned to trash by hack writers... I'm all set... I'll watch no more...

A poor finale, like most of the episodes of the season

Warning: Spoilers
A poor finale, like most of the episodes of the season

Red goes alone to kill berlin. With only a gun. From satellites, he was not able to learn how many people inside etc so it is fault of sceneario because he is not so powerful.

Liz again shot someone while she did not have to shoot from mortal parts of the body! Tom was away, she could shoot from for example legs or feet. She was trained but it is non-sense.

Red said "I knew he was not berlin but i wanted them to think like this." Who are they? He already killed tom and that guard. Who will tell berlin that "red thinks you are dead"? I could not also get it. Liz will tell fbi maybe?

Red warned them to be careful but cooper still goes alone.

Liz is alone in a car and tom comes. How can this happen?

Also. You are FBI. You can shoot at club to make there silence and to make people go out. It was shame.

That is why I gave 4 / 10 for the episode.

There are unanswered questions to see in next seasons. Red is father? What happened to berlin's daughter?

Also i could not understand the plane. Lots of criminals from different countries. They were supposed to do some tasks in USA? If berlin brought them, why berlin's hands were handcuffed?

Now I will go to another series. I watch series one season by one season. So, i am not sure when I will come for season 2. I think i will miss only reddington. All actings were bad and plot was not so good.

FOR SEASON REVIEW:

261120 I am starting first season of blacklist after finishing season 1 of gilmore girls. I watch series season by season. So i will watch one season and they leave for another series.

I did not read too much about series before starting but it looks like white collar series.

I will edit here after watching some episodes i hope.

I copied this from series comment of me.

261120 EDIT AFTER EPISODE 2 I remembered where I knew diego klattenhoff from. From series, homeland. Also FBI was there. I start to feel raymond was like Carl Elias from person of interest. They seem similar to me now. Same energy, same knowledge. But for now.

281120 EDIT AFTER EPISODE 4 Incomplete and absent plots always until now. Maybe because of plot. Raymond is making fbi do his job. In 4 episodes, zamani, the woman were killed and . In 4. episode stewmaker were killed which he wanted to kill but never found. Probably stewmaker killed his relative or lover. Chinese mob was also captured. Those are good for raymond because he has still name and reputation. Despite anyone can say about him to criminal world to be careful about him.

281120 EDIT AFTER EPISODE 5 Keen is not good actor. Her face, mimics seem to me very fake. Keen's Husband and people who are on survailence belong to same organisation? Enemies of keen s father? Or bigger? We will learn i hope in future.

281120 EDIT AFTER EPISODE 6 Lots of amateur stuff again. nadeem is not turkish name. It can be "nedim". In first episode, "zamani" was told as serbian but it was albanian. Those are annoying.

301120 EDIT AFTER EPISODE 9 Each episode a new villain comes to villain raymond.

31220 EDIT AFTER EPISODE 18 This show is good for showing different kind of criminals. Maybe i did not watch so much series, that is why those criminals look interesting to me. I could not guess a person from insurance company could be a killer, not exactly a killer.

51220 EDIT AFTER FINALE

Now I will go to another series. I watch series one season by one season. So, i am not sure when I will come for season 2. I think i will miss only reddington. All actings were bad and plot was not so good.

That is why I gave 5 / 10 for season. For some good actings like ressler, reddington, kingmaker, undertaker and episodes showed different kind of crimes. It was entertaning and instructive for me.
