Tony Hale is best known for playing Gary Walsh, Selina Meyer's inoffensive, bag-handling yes-man on HBO's Veep – but in real life, the comic actor isn't afraid to speak up about what grinds his gears. Rolling Stone asked Hale to vent about three things that piss him off in the latest installment of our ongoing video series.
First up on his list is "mean people," and the explanation is simple: "That sounds kind of contradictory, like I'm not liking mean people. But I don't understand mean people. Just be nice!" Hale...

While “Girls” is set to air its final season sometime next year, main cast member Zosia Mamet has spent the past year appearing in films like Todd Solondz’s “Wiener-Dog” and Steve Bernstein’s “Dominion.” Now, she’s set to appear in the new film “Goldbricks in Bloom,” a social satire that explores what it means to be an artist today by interweaving the story of a self-obsessed group of disenchanted young creatives with the mythic rise and fall of a New York painter. Watch a brief trailer for the film below featuring Mamet talking about the actors in the film.

Westworld finds its baddie in the shape of the mighty Ed Harris...
As production looms for the pilot episode of HBO’s televisual Westworld adaptation, the cast continues to grow. When you have to create a whole creepy theme park and fill it with people, a large cast is to be expected.
Last week we brought you the news that Jeffrey Wright (Boardwalk Empire), Rodrigo Santoro (both 300 movies and Dominion), Shannon Woodward (Raising Hope), Ingrid Bolsø Berdal (Hercules), Angela Srafyan (The Good Guys) and Simon Quarterman (The Devil Inside) were all joining Anthony Hopkins on the show. Cyclops himself, James Marsden, also joined the ranks yesterday (although Film Divider had revealed his involvement some time ago).

Following the news that J.J. Abrams’ rather appropriately named Bad Robot would be moving ahead with a TV adaptation of Westworld, we now have official confirmation of the wider cast that will be joining lead stars Sir Anthony Hopkins and Evan Rachel Wood in the troubled tourist attraction. The iconic movie that was released in 1973 was written and directed by Michael Crichton, and centred on a western-themed amusement park operated by humanoid robots that malfunction. This TV adaptation will present an alternative take on that premise, and with the cast list lengthening, the production is now gathering momentum.
Jeffrey Wright (Boardwalk Empire) will star as Bernard Lowe – Head of the theme park’s Programming Division. Alongside that character will be Shannon Woodward (Raising Hope), playing Elsie King – a talented member of the Programming Division who is headed for great things, and works to identify problematic behaviours among the park’s hosts.

Boardwalk Empire, 300 and Hercules stars will be joining Anthony Hopkins in the TV take on Westworld...
Tis the season to reveal your pilot episode cast. Yesterday we learnt who’d be starring in the Scream TV adaptation, and today we’ve heard who’ll be visiting Westworld in the TV remake’s pilot.
There are some surprisingly sizeable names in there, too. Jeffrey Wright of Boardwalk Empire will play Bernard Low, described as “the brilliant and quixotic head of the park’s Programming Division,” while Rodrigo Santoro (both 300 movies and Dominion) will be Harlan Bell, “Westworld’s perennial Most Wanted bandit.”
Shannon Woodward of Raising Hope has been cast as “a sardonic rising star in the programming division,” while Ingrid Bolsø Berdal (Hercules) plays “a savage fighter and brutal bandit” and The Good Guys’ Angela Srafyan has signed up for the role of “one of Westworld’s most popular attractions” Clementine Pennyfeather.

Comparisons between Crossbones, NBC’s umpteenth attempt at launching a successful series this season, and Black Sails, another pirate-themed show over on Starz, are inevitable. And Black Sails has Crossbones beat in every respect. It’s sharper, grittier, more compelling and certainly sexier (you won’t be seeing any steamy, R-rated hookups on NBC, that’s for sure). Still, there are worse ways to spend a Friday night than watching John Malkovich bite into the role of Blackbeard with theatrical, bizarrely-accented gusto on Crossbones. Make no mistake – Malkovich is the main attraction, and in many ways the sole attraction, of Crossbones.
So, is he enough? Is Crossbones worth tuning in for? The answer is that it’s still too early to tell – but early signs in “The Devil’s Dominion” aren’t promising. Though Malkovich is clearly relishing his part, and he’s hamming it up in a way that...

Allison Estrin fell for the camaraderie that exists on independent film productions during her years working under casting director Kerry Barden. “He really set the groundwork for what independent film casting is,” she told Backstage. “He helped me fall in love with the entire process of working on independent films.” Estrin spent six years at Barden/Schnee in New York before deciding recently to hang her own shingle with Casting Collective in New York City. But before that could happen, she needed to find some partners. Enter Henry Russell Bergstein and Matthew Maisto, who were both eager for the same opportunity. “The great thing about the three of us is we come from very different backgrounds and have all dabbled in all three mediums between film [Estrin], TV [Maisto], and theater [Bergstein],” she said. Two months after opening its doors, Casting Collective is casting the Dylan Thomas biopic “Dominion”—“a beautiful, small film,...

It used to be that summer was a desolate wasteland, at least when it came to original television. The networks, like teachers, pretty much took the season off and cable was still in its infancy, struggling to find a way to quench that particular thirst. But these days, summer is just as viable for original programming as the fall and midseason, and this year is no different.
We've decided to run down the biggest premieres from the hottest networks (in alphabetical order), making sure to note the starriest, sexiest, most interesting new and returning programs for you to watch at the end of a long, hot summer day. It's enough to make you wonder how anyone ever survived the summer without shows of this caliber popping up. Dog days, indeed.
While there certainly seems to be some promising things coming down the pike for ABC, including a series based on...

Rhys Ifans will reportedly play poet Dylan Thomas in a biopic called Dominion.
The indie drama, which takes place in 1953 New York, focuses on the final days of the poet's life. Thomas died at the age of 39 after a number of visits to White Horse Tavern in Greenwich Village.
John Malkovich and Diego Luna will also star in the upcoming movie, which will be written and directed by Steven Bernstein, reports Variety.
Thomas died a few weeks into a Us tour of poetry readings. Records suggest that Thomas was not well during the tour, but continued to consume large amounts of alcohol.
Ifans is currently working on numerous projects about Dylan Thomas. He will star in a new film adaptation of his radio play Under Milk Wood, and will front an upcoming documentary about the poet's life.
Dominion will begin shooting later this month.
