Nothing Special

Warning: Spoilers
This episode of Bones was nothing special.

The B plot about Hodgins serving as a host to the bot fly was pretty nasty. I get that it is important to him because he is an entomologist, but it was also so gross.

The other plot about Brennan in a feud with that other author was okay, but it just didn't advance character development in my mind. I also thought it was a bit silly to have this Brennan B plot in season 9, when I feel like this would have been more appropriate for her character in an earlier season. How is it by now that Brennan does not realize that she has no tact? Don't get me wrong, her bluntness is iconic and is crucial to her character. But, I feel like at this point in the series she should at least realize that she is a very blunt person. So for her to be asking people if they think she was tactful felt out of place.

The case this week was alright. I feel like the girlfriend of the victim was a very bland character. It also wasn't a really interesting ending - a jealous and vengeful women kills the father of her unborn child. I feel like there is a way to make that story more interesting, but they didn't do it.

Overall, this was a forgettable episode.

Best Part: It was cute seeing Bones and Booth talk about Bones' book at the end of the episode

Worst Part: Having to watch that nasty bug move around in Hodgins' neck.

I Agree--Forgettable

What has happened to sophisticated plotting and insightful forensics? This is a pile of silliness that starts out in a beaver dam. A guy who is a model, lies and becomes a high priced sperm donor. All the women think he went to Yale. But someone killed him. As usual a nondescript sliver is taken out and matched to a suspect. In the secondary plots we have Hodgins, bitten by some fly, and allowing the larvae to develop in his neck. It's too stupid to comment about. And then there is Brennan, having a feud with a pulp mystery writer. They get on a TV interview show and put each other down. I was actually pulling for the other writer. Not much of an episode.
