Alien Theory is a thoroughly enjoyable and well-crafted film. The cinematography, the editing, the soundtrack... all spot on! The performances are also quite genuine. On my first viewing, I initially thought that some of the acting was over the top, borderline hokey. Once I settled into the film, and particularly on a second viewing, I realized how appropriate the characterizations were for the plot.
There's a Memento-esque quality to the way the plot is propelled forward by use of flashbacks. Just like that film, a lack of memory is critical to the forward momentum of the story. The details are very different, though. This isn't your typical comedy amnesia alien invasion action film!
