Welcome back to 'The Blacklist."
We open on Red waking up in the back of a Jeep somewhere in Africa apparently. The Jeep is being driven by gun-toting boy soldiers and is being pursued by grownup soldiers with machine guns. We learn that we are in Cameroon. Red is brought to the leader Yabari. He has come to propose a business transaction and has a mysterious suitcase. Red empties the suitcase which is full of cash. He explains about Berlin and how he and his associates were targeted. He wants the names of the other bounty hunters that he knows Berlin has dispatched. He tells Yabari to act quickly or it will rain fire. Yabari says to the boy soldiers to kill him. Suddenly a fireball appears in the distance. Red says there's more where that came from and he better start talking. Yabari finally gives up a name: Lord Baltimore. (Number 104) Red promptly sets fire to the money much to Yabari's dismay.
We cut back to D.C. and the Post Office where the deputy attorney general is raising Cain over the fact that Red burned the money and has been given more than $12 million over time and that has the Intelligence Committee up in arms. She demands to speak to Reddington. Ressler says Red only talks to Elizabeth Keen.
We cut to Elizabeth who is lying on her back on her hotel room bed looking at a ceiling full of evidence: scraps of paper, newspaper clippings, pictures of Red, Tom and more. She seems as if she's been holed up for a while. She is, for some reason, wearing very skimpy lingerie. She gets dressed and goes to meet Red who blathers on about "Big Data" (Google, etc.) Red tells Liz about Lord Baltimore an expert tracker who combs the web for status updates and financial records and other traces people leave behind in the modern age and he's after Red, and if they can catch him he will point them to Berlin.
Liz takes this to Ressler and Martin and Aram. Martin isn't impressed but Aram knows all about him. They go talk to a woman who works in "Big Data" and received a funky bank deposit. The woman claims she was actually a victim not a criminal and has been targeted before but she does not how it easy it would be to scrape someone's information. She is fidgety while she talks to Ressler and Keen.
In the car, Keen asks Ressler if he's been going to their mandated psych evaluations. He says he's not going to crack up and tells her not to worry either and that he knows Tom is dead. He notes she's technically a psychiatrist. She says in her professional opinion, he should go to the psych evaluations.
A man walks into a crummy apartment and approaches a man submerged in a tub full of ice: that man is Berlin. He tells Berlin they've located Reddington and extraction is imminent but that they need more funds because of unexpected hiccups. Berlin grabs the man by the neck, head butts him, and waterboards him in the tub of ice he's sitting in. Apparently, he's not a fan of cost overruns.
Later that night the woman who works at the data security company, Rowan, gets a phone call telling her "they" know she met with the FBI and not to do it again. Of couse, she goes to Keen and Ressler. Aram calls her while she's there and says a gajillion byts of data was stolen but it makes no sense since Reddington is a Luddite without email or other online identities. Aram and Liz think they might be after someone other than Red.
They take Rowan to apartment with lots of evidence of a hacker from the number that called her. Her name is on the lease. They think she is the hacker stealing info for Berlin.. She claims to know nothing and that she is not lord Baltimore.
Red and Dembe go to see the rehabbing Cooper and Red explains about Lord Baltimore and tells him his replacement is untrustworthy. Cooper says he's not going back to work. He gives Cooper a USB drive. Cooper thinks it's a threat. Red says it's not, it's the evidence of their "adventure" in Kuwait. Cooper says he's not going back. Red says he needs to get back on his feet and that he knows about Harold's diagnosis and that it's time to finish the job.
Rowan tells Liz and Ressler about a woman named Nora, her twin sister, who was thought to be dead and must be the culprit. We see a hooded figure in a car watching them through binoculars.
Red and Dembe head to a hotel. Suddenly a helicopter appears outside the window and starts shooting at them. Chaos ensues as a stun grenade is lobbed into the lobby. Dembe is overpowered and Red falls to the floor and grabbed by some men. He is taken to the waiting chopper and whisked over D.C.
He is taken to a warehouse somewhere, seated at a table in a bleak room and questioned by a woman he believes is Lord Baltimore. That woman is Mossad and has a grudge. He tells her he is confident the person she just informed of his capture will let him go within the hour. He notes a tattoo on her arm.
Ressler and Keen interrogate Rowan about a car key found in her apartment. Again she claims to know nothing.
The pair go to the twins' mom who says Rowan was a happy child but Nora was more complicated. Turns out Nora was molested by an uncle and no one believed her says Rowan. They also go to Nora's commanding officer who says she was a fearless soldier. Rowan says Nora wanted her to use her position at work to get information on people at a competing security firm that she could use to get the upper hand. Rowan refused. Nora hit her, left, and was killed 3 weeks later in Mosul during combat. Her body was never recovered. The CO says the opposing forces took her. The CO doesn't think she's still alive but Keen and Ressler do and that makes Rowan nervous.
Red talks to Lord Baltimore about how she caught him, basically they found him through his Zegna ties and an elaborate plan involving traceable dye put in every one sold on the Eastern seaboard. Crafty!
Dr. Friedman the government shrink tries to talk to Ressler but he shrugs her off saying he's in the middle of an investigation. Ressler goes to investigate the car. Aram finds out after doing an exhaustive search on searches that Lord Baltimore isn't looking for Reddington.Martin goes to release Reddington. Turns out she was just Mossad and thought she was catching the master criminal not realizing he works for the Feds.
Keen tells Reddington Lord Baltimore wasn't looking for him but a woman but they're not sure who. Red knows it's a woman named Naomi Highland and they have to go get her now. Keen asks who she is. Red says she was his wife.
We cut to a group of couples sitting around drinking wine and discussing atheism. Naomi sits on a man's lap and they kiss. Everyone laughs and drinks. She goes to the kitchen to get more wine and is startled to see a man at her back door. He is wearing a badge. He enters the kitchen. U.S. Marshals enter and she says to her man that she's sorry. The marshals say she she has to come with them and that there's a credible threat. She asks, "He's back isn't he?"
The man who went to see Berlin enters Rowan's apartment. His name is Marcus. She freaks out. He says he's not there to hurt her and wants her to hear something as he places a record on the turntable. A recording starts of an old country song. Marcus says to a fidgety Rowan "take your time." He tells her "you know who you are, it's starting to come back now." He reminds her of what happened on Fullerton. Suddenly she seems to come to and asks "How long was I gone?"
Meanwhile Ressler has gone back to the mother's house where he finds the dead body of a young girl in an old van. Either Rowan is Nora or vice versa but one of them died a long time ago and the other is living with a split personality.
Keen is trying to coax Naomi out of her house but she doesn't want to run and start all over again. She says she's not going anywhere. Naomi says Liz has no idea how Red turned her life upside down and the Feds accused her of being part of it, froze her assets, interrogated her, ruined her life, and said she had to run with her daughter and fend for herself. Naomi's husband, talking to other Feds, is still confused and Liz says she's going to have to tell him.
Rowan, Marcus, and a very nervous other guy show up to do their "job." Rowan pulls out a sniper rifle and kills the men outside Naomi's house. A group of men enter and tase Liz and Naomi's husband and grab Naomi. As Marcus is about to kill the husband, Liz shoots him. She takes off outside and tackles Rowan and calls Dembe and tells Red she found Lord Baltimore.
Naomi, with a bag over her head is taken to a remote location to see Berlin. Berlin pulls off her bag and touches her face with his hook and says "Hello Mrs. Reddington."
Keen interrogates Rowan and Ressler interrogates Marcus. Rowan claims she knows nothing and to ask Nora. Keen says she is asking Nora, she has dissociative identity disorder. Keen tells Ressler they need the trigger that flips her switch. They go to Marcus to learn the trigger. He tells them about the record. Keen comes in with her phone and plays the song on it and flips her switch by talking about how Nora murdered her sister Rowan and how this song was playing that night she killed her. Rowan/Nora flips and Keen says it's over and asks where they took Naomi. They get to the scene and all of Lord Baltimore's men are dead save one who was left alive to send a message an address.
We cut to Berlin and Naomi, she is telling him that she hasn't seen Red in 20 years. He tells her to lay down on the bed. She pleads and says she can't help him. He says he doesn't want her help. She lays down and he takes a Polaroid.
Red and Dembe go to the address. The room is now, of course, empty. Red finds a pocket watch on the bed with the Polaroid in it.
Keen updates Ressler and Dr. Friedman enters to talk to Ressler. He ignores her and walks out. She says she will recommend him for suspension. In the middle of the office he says there's nothing she can fix. She says she won't know until they talk. He melts down a little about everything that's happened and says he feels like crap but he knows they do good work here and worries that it's not going to be enough but when that day comes she'll be the first to know.
Liz meets with a lawyer and he delivers her annulment papers. He notes that she's keeping his name. She says Tom was an impostor and Keen was never his name. He asks "What now?" She doesn't answer.
Cooper looks around his house as he leans on his cane.
Ressler looks in his bathroom mirror and takes his prescription.
The hooded figure in the binoculars watches Liz through a window.
Liz looks at her reflection in the window.
She shows up at the Post Office with a new shorter 'do. Aram is all smiles saying Martin is no longer interim director. She asks who they answer to now. Cooper, standing behind her, says "That would be me." The team applauds his return.
Red receives a package: inside is a burner phone. He dials it and Berlin answers. Red asks "Where is she?" Berlin says she's out and about and notes that Red must be missing her so he made him a little something to remember her by. He says he's going to do to Naomi what Red did to Berlin's daughter, he's going to send her back to him piece by piece. Red opens a box and it's a finger.
