Technically a little scruffy, but amusing and well delivered by Hart
The famously introverted and reclusive poet gives this recorded message for all of those planning to avoid human contact during the update holiday period.
While I am no fan of poetry, I do like to be shut away from society writing down words that nobody will ever read (case in point). Perhaps this is what drew me to this short film, but it is more likely to be the fact that I have just found the mostly delightful work of Yulin Kuang and am playing catch-up to the rest of the internet it seems. This little video is quite simple; it features Hart in the role of Dickinson, alone in her room speaking directly to the camera. The comedy comes from the updating of her situation of one of romantic retrospective viewing, to one of modern anti- social teenager. This slant is quite amusing and it easily runs the course thanks to some good lines and Hart's convincing delivery (particularly as she goes off on a reenactment tangent).
Technically the short is a little scruffy. The edits are a bit messy and between some of them the sound quality varies, which is a little distracting. It is a nice little throwaway piece though; nicely thought of and well enough delivered to be a comic seasonal short.
