- DI Goodman and DS Bordey investigate the death of the island's commerce minister, Jacob Doran. He had recently been implicated in a scandal - an affair with one of his aides, Lena Bell - and they find a suicide note on his desk. Goodman is immediately suspicious of this being a suicide as he was shot from an impossible angle. Doran wife Charlotte admits that her husband regularly had affairs but she turned a blind eye to his infidelities. They interview Lena who says Doran seduced her while on a business trip to Mexico and was too ashamed to even leave the house after the newspaper story broke. They learn the Doran's son Drew had been seeing Lena before she had the affair with his father. When they discover that Doran was involved in gun smuggling however, they set themselves on the path to finding the murderer. Meanwhile, Camille is shocked when Lena's godfather Marlon Croft appears, as he is her biological father who abandoned her and her mother when she was only 6 years old. It turns out things are not quite as straightforward as it might seem.—garykmcd
