Despite sharing a life and being in the same profession, husband-and-wife duo Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick haven’t starred in a film together in twenty years. Thankfully for us, that’s about to change as they’ll lead the Michael J. Weithorn-directed film Connescence. The project from Weithorn, who created the TV series The King of Queens, starring Kevin James, Leah Remini, and Jerry Stiller, begins principal photography this week with Victoria Hill and Greg Clark’s Fibonacci Films. Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are thrilled to team up for Connescence, and Hollywood is ready to welcome the duo back to the silver screen.
Brittany O’Grady and Judd Hirsch join Bacon and Sedgwick as primary cast members. According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, Connescence features Kevin Bacon as Stan Olszewski, “a sharp, funny, but chronically underachieving security guard, who breaks up an attempted robbery at the home of...

How you doin’, Wendy Williams?
The answer during Tuesday’s Halloween edition of The Wendy Williams Show: not great.
The daytime gabfest host, dressed as the Statue of Liberty for Halloween, fainted on air while introducing the show’s annual costume contest. Williams faltered, stumbled and then hit the ground, to the audible shock of the studio audience.

“Happy Endings” might never return in an official capacity, but that doesn’t mean it’s gone forever. The ABC sitcom was canceled after 57 episodes across its first three seasons, amassing warm reviews and a devoted following — as well as disappointing ratings that many have blamed on ABC’s scheduling. As part of EW PopFest, however, the show’s main cast will reunite for a live-read of a “lost episode” at the end of this month.

Walt Disney Animation Studios revealed the roster of voice talent tapped to help bring a voice, snort and a roar to the animal residents of the modern-day mammal metropolis of Zootopia, which opens in theaters March 4, 2016.
“We had so much fun casting this film,” said director Byron Howard. “‘Zootopia’ features such a large and diverse range of characters – one of our biggest casts ever for a Disney Animation film. We needed talented actors who could help bring these animals to life.”
Adds director Rich Moore, “Everyone in this incredible cast is bringing something special, something unexpected to their characters, which really takes our story to a whole new level.”

Joining Ginnifer Goodwin, who provides the voice of Zootopia’s first bunny officer Judy Hopps; Jason Bateman, who lends his voice to con-artist fox Nick Wilde; and Shakira, who voices international superstar Gazelle, are the following members of the “Zootopia” voice cast.

Disney's upcoming animated film Zootopia looks like it's going to a ridiculously funny and entertaining film. I got to see some footage from it at D23 this past summer, and I thought the stuff that the studio shared was great.
The voice cast for the film originally included Jason Bateman, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Shakira. Now, thanks to USA Today, we have some information on the rest of the voice cast and the characters that they will be playing. We even have images and information for each of those characters. But first, here's the synopsis:
The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But...

A few years ago, Fox had some of the top-rated TV shows on the air. Now, the network is struggling. Which series will be cancelled and which will be renewed? Stay tuned.
How do the execs decide what to cancel or keep? They look at a lot of different factors but the ratings play a very large role. The higher the ratings, the better chances a show has of surviving.
Fox shows this season (so far): American Idol, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, Backstrom, Bob's Burgers, Bones, Boom!, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Bullseye, Empire, Family Guy, The Following, Glee, Golan the Insatiable, Gotham, Gracepoint, Hell's Kitchen, Home Free, Knock Knock Live, The Last Man on Earth, MasterChef, MasterChef Junior, The Mindy Project, Mulaney, New Girl, Red Band Society, The Simpsons, Sleepy Hollow, So You Think You Can Dance, Utopia, Wayward Pines, and Weird Loners.

The television industry goes through a turbulent period and the smorgasbord of TV shows makes it harder for viewers and shows themselves. The numbers usually decide the future of series -- what lives on and what gets axed, a cycle of life spinning even more wildly in the biz nowadays. While some shows don´t last long enough, the figures are not always to be blamed (for instance Fox´s Weird Loners), others pull miraculously through (CBS going for a fifth season of poverty comedy 2 Broke Girls). More and more news is recently accumulating on the fate of some series. The stars of Comedy Central sketch show Key & Peele, Keegan-Michel Key and Jordan Peele, announced the ongoing fifth season scheduled to run to mid-August...

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll is pretty damning evidence that the narcissist is killing television. From the bizarrely popular Two and a Half Men to the thankfully short-lived Weird Loners, there seems to be a constant flow of unlikable, self-absorbed assholes leading half-hour comedies, with show creators across all networks seemingly convinced that the most endearing trait a sitcom character can possess is consummate unpleasantness (yes, HBO, you too, don’t think for a second that Girls is growing on us). [As in years past, this week, I'm going to be glancing, night-by-night, at how the primetime schedules have changed after the network announcements at upfronts. I'll be looking at how the various changes will impact the ratings races on each night, as well as my own DVRing habits. Readers can chime in on how their own DVRs will be impacted. And yes, this brief series assumes that anybody still watches TV on their TVs. I'm old-fashioned. I'm also probably gonna ignore that I have a fancy new six-tuner DVR that means that I really don't have to make choices anymore. This will assume that I make choices for my own sanity.] Tuesday Nights 8:00 p.m. ABC: "The Muppets"/"Fresh Off The Boat" CBS: "NCIS" The CW: "The Flash" Fox: "Grandfathered"/"The Grinder" NBC: "The Voice" 9:00 p.m. ABC: "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." That's pretty remarkable if you think about it. Of last season's fall Tuesday comedies, "Mindy Project" has moved on to Hulu and "New Girl" is returning at midseason and the other four are dead. Fox has decided to break up with their Weird Loners sitcom. It's been cancelled after a short season of six episodes.
A single-camera comedy, Weird Loners revolves around a quartet of underdogs who find themselves single while most of their peers are married and starting families. They're played by Becki Newton, Meera Rohit Kumbhani, Nate Torrence, and Zachary Knighton.
The series debuted on March 31st to poor ratings and registered a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 1.89 million viewers. As bad as that was, the numbers got even worse in later weeks and fell as low as a 0.53 rating with 1.21 million viewers.

And then there was only one. On Friday (May 8), NBC officially cancelled "About a Boy," "Marry Me" and "One Big Happy," leaving "Undateable" as the network's only hope to avoid going into the 2015-2016 season without a single returning comedy. [There's some pretty wild, if not implausible speculation out there about the nature of a potential third "Undateable" season and I've been told it's nowhere close to locked down. That doesn't mean it won't happen. It just means that I'm trying to be professional and only report things I can confirm and I can't confirm a darned thing about "Undateable," which is good news in this case.] Neither "About a Boy" nor "Marry Me" has aired since February and even with many/most of their airings boosted by "The Voice," neither had the numbers to generate much of a renewal conversation. "Marry Me" averaged 3.8 million viewers and a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 -- again, boosted by "The Voice" -- while "About a Boy" slipped to 3.5 million viewers and a 1.0 key demo rating in its second season. This is "About a Boy" showrunner Jason Katims' second series to end on NBC this year after the slightly-more-planned close to "Parenthood." Katims has a direct-to-series order for "The Way" at Hulu, so he's Ok. In what ended up being its series finale last Tuesday,...

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, May 5, 2015. An hour-long live episode of "Undateable" got a small uptick among young viewers as NBC split Tuesday night in the key demo, with CBS staging its regular Tuesday domination overall, led by "NCIS." Despite much hype and high-profile guest stars, the "Undateable" event actually lost viewers week-to-week, but that was more a product of the continued late-season swoon for NBC's "The Voice." "The Voice" hit a series low on Tuesday, as did CBS' finale for "Person of Interest." Among other Tuesday notables, ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." ticked up, as did Fox's "New Girl" finale, while The CW's "The Flash" was down a tiny bit. All changes were pretty cosmetic. Let's get to the numbers... Among adults 18-49, ABC and CBS both averaged a 1.6 rating for Tuesday night, tops in the key demographic. ABC was third with a 1.3 key demo rating.

First, a brief musical interlude: “They’ll never stop The Simpsons! Have no fears, we’ve got stories for years, like Marge becomes a robot, Maybe Moe gets a cell phone, has Bart ever owned a bear? Or, how ’bout a crazy wedding? Where something happens and doo doo doo doo doo… Sorry for the clip show. Have no fears, we’ve got stories for years!” – “Gump Roast” (Season 13, Episode 17)

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, April 28, 2015. With "NCIS: New Orleans" coming tantalizingly close to moving ahead of the "NCIS" mothership, CBS dominated Tuesday overall and eked out the slimmest of victories in the key demographic. It was a mixed Tuesday for superheroes. Despite an episode tying heavily into the sure-to-be-blockbuster premiere of the "Avengers" sequel and a "Dancing with the Stars" lead-in, ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." failed to get any bump. However, The CW's heavily promoted new episode of "The Flash" had a big night. On the comedy front, Fox's "New Girl" continued to toe The Mulaney Line, NBC's "One Big Happy" slipped below for its finale and "Weird Loners" continued its struggling ways. With "Weird Loners" so low, the regular CW lineup topped a Fox lineup of Fox's originals in most measures. On to the numbers... Among adults 18-49, CBS averaged a 1.7 rating for Tuesday night,...

The Flash this week drew 3.93 million total viewers and a 1.5 rating (per finals), ticking up in audience and rising two tenths in the demo. Team Arrow has reduced its head count by one.
Yup, when former street rat Roy Harper left Starling City at the end of the April 15 episode — after Diggle, Felicity and a friend of Lyla’s helped fake his death via prison stabbing — Colton Haynes in turn said goodbye to the CW series he has called home since early Season 1.

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, April 14, 2015. A weak week for "NCIS" still ranked as Tuesday's most watched show and finished behind only "The Voice" among adults 18-49. And with "The Voice" dropping and "Chicago Fire" airing a repeat, CBS was able to add a key demo crown to its normal overall Tuesday dominance. Though "NCIS" may have been down from last week, there were a lot of positive notes on Tuesday as "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," "The Flash" and "iZombie" were up a little, as was "NCIS: New Orleans." With "New Girl" in a repeat, Fox's "Weird Loners" had what was presumably one of the ugliest in-season nights ever for an original comedy on the Big 4, helping the network easily finish in fifth. [The "Mulaney" finale averaged just over 1.1 million viewers and a 0.4 key demo rating, proving something can go lower than last night's "Weird Loners." But it's hard.] Let's get to the numbers... Among adults 18-49, CBS averaged a 1.7 rating for Tuesday primetime, edging out the 1.6 rating for NBC in the key demographic. ABC was...

The last few years, some network TV executives have tried to do away with the pilot process, ordering shows straight to series based on a script, or even an idea, rather than spending a lot of money filming a pilot episode before deciding whether it's good enough to order to series. This is essentially like deciding to build a house on land that hasn't been surveyed yet and hoping that it'll hold the structure. The results have gone about as expected: "Hieroglyph"(!) was pre-canceled before a second episode was filmed, NBC decided to sell "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" to Netflix rather than have to cancel it after three episodes aired, and other straight-to-series orders have been delayed, or similarly pre-canceled, or (as in the case of Fox's "Weird Loners") sent off to die quietly. Netflix has had more success doing away with pilots, but that's in part because no one but...

On Wednesday (April 8) morning, Fox renewed the spring comedy success "The Last Man on Earth" for a second season. “We knew we had something special with 'The Last Man on Earth,'" states Fox Entertainment President Dave Madden. "It’s one of those rare shows that continues to add depth and dimension to its unique premise, week after week. We are so thrilled that this incredibly bold, original and inventive series has been embraced by both fans and critics, and we cannot wait to see where the creative genius and inspired vision of Will, Phil and Chris take us in Season Two.” With another hour-long block of "The Last Man on Earth" airing this Sunday, Fox is boasting that the Will Forte-created comedy is the season's top new comedy among adults 18-34 and men 18-49. In addition to Forte, the series is executive produced by pilot directors Chris Miller...

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, April 7, 2015. True to Tuesday form, "NCIS" kicked off CBS' across-the-board overall sweep, while "The Voice" and "Chicago Fire" rant the table for NBC in the key demographic. Otherwise, there weren't many notables on Tuesday. "New Girl" dipped below The Mulaney Line with a new episode, but "Weird Loners" managed not to fall in the key demo. "Fresh Off The Boat" and "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." both ticked up 0.1 in the key demo. And, in its first original airing without a new "The Flash" as a lead-in, The CW's "iZombie" was encouragingly flat week-to-week, building on a "Flash" repeat. [Note that The CW was preempted for election coverage in Chicago. I have no clue how much difference that will make, nor if other Chicago-area affiliates were similarly preempted. And even if "iZombie" ticks down 0.1 or something in Finals, that would still seem encouraging.] On to the numbers... Among adults 18-49, NBC averaged a 2.4 rating for Tuesday night, comfortably beating the 1.7 rating for CBS in the key demographic. ABC averaged a 1.2 key demo rating for the night, beating the 1.0 key demo rating for Fox, while The...
