Contrary to some information on the Internet, cork-tipped cigarettes were in production as early as 1911. Printed newspaper ads from the era show ads for 'London Life' and 'Egyptienne Luxury' cork-tipped cigarettes. The 'London Life' cigarette poster dated 1914 is easily found on the Internet. Soldiers at Gallipoli as portrayed in the mini-series could have smoked cork-tipped cigarettes, in addition to pipes and self-rolled cigarettes.
