And while it has been some time since we’ve seen Woody on the big screen, Netflix is slated to bring us a new animated / live-action crossover adaptation titled Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp, which is set to premiere on the streaming service on April 12, 2024. Quentin Tarantino is undoubtedly one of the most influential directors in Hollywood. There is one filmmaker who was influenced and guided by Tarantino and went on to become a prominent name in the horror genre. Eli Roth’s film, Restaurant Dogs, was a clear homage to the Tarantino film Reservoir Dogs. The duo later became good friends and collaborated on several projects over the years.
Quentin Tarantino found his perfect partner after watching Eli Roth’s Cabin Fever
Roth’s films had their fair share of acclaim and criticism, depending on the audience of the film. He was put on the horror genre map with his controversial film franchise, Hostel. He went on to make Knock Knock with Keanu Reeves, which some fans consider as Reeves’ most disgusting movie.

Director Eli Roth is returning for seconds of “Thanksgiving.” He’s cooking up a sequel to his holiday-themed slasher film, with the follow-up set to open theatrically in 2025. It’s unclear which — if any — any cast members will be back.
“Beeaking News! John Carver will kill again!” the director captioned a video on Instagram, referring to the film’s villain. “Thank you everyone who supported Original Horror in theaters!!! Go see it now on the big screen while it’s in cinemas, sequel set for release in 2025! Taking a year to really get the script right, working on it starting today!”

Thanksgiving might be over, but the scrumptious scent of Eli Roth’s “Thanksgiving” still lingers over the holiday horror season.
The director’s murderous pilgrim slasher — set in Plymouth, Massachusetts the year after a violent Black Friday trampling leaves three dead on the floor of a department store and puts a masked killer on the path to revenge — invaded our real-world theaters on November 17. It’s doing well with critics and audiences alike, who have been gorging on its themed gore and delighting in its snappy satire and inventive use of corncob holders as a victorious reunion for the “Cabin Fever” director and the horror genre.
Slasher fans have quickly accepted the rampage of the mysterious “John Carver” as a success by all important metrics (it’s doing well at the box office and on Rotten Tomatoes), but the villain’s Thanksgiving-timed arrival in theaters has been a longtime coming for Roth.

Eli Roth is back. And he’s here for “Thanksgiving.”
For the past decade, Roth has nimbly moved through different genres – erotic thriller (“Knock Knock”), revenge movie (“Death Wish”), family fantasy (“The House with a Clock in Its Walls”), nature documentary (“Fin”) and big budget video game adaptation (next year’s “Borderlands”). But now he’s back with a down-and-dirty horror movie, this time centered around one of the happiest time of year.
In “Thanksgiving,” adapted from a fake trailer that Roth had made for Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s “Grindhouse” project, a superstore’s super sale leads to tragedy. A year later a masked man in a pilgrim costume, known as John Carver, starts taking out the townspeople involved in the tragedy, one by one. And, yes, the kills are just as creative and stomach-churning as you’d expect from the man behind “Hostel,” “Cabin Fever” and “The Green Inferno.

You don’t make a movie called Thanksgiving without mentally preparing for critics to label it a turkey. I suspect that pun will be dispensed quite a lot in reviews of Eli Roth’s latest slasher, reheated like leftovers from the holiday and all the more flavorless with every bite. Possibly from low expectations––this is, after all, an adaptation of a fake in-movie trailer from a box office flop approaching 17 years old, spin-offs of which are the underwhelming likes of Machete and Hobo with a Shotgun––I didn’t find myself in that camp, even if the taste it left in my mouth wasn’t altogether pleasant.
With 2006’s Hostel, Roth popularized the “torture porn” genre within the mainstream, but even as his films have become more slapstick in violence, the benevolence with which they treat their characters remains the same. At his worst, it would seem Roth sees...

Like gravy-soaked mashed yams with marshmallows on top, Eli Roth’s cinema is, how shall we put it, an acquired taste. His work—usually something ridiculous, in poor taste but inexplicably fun—is much like the aforementioned dish. It’s either your thing, or it isn’t.
Fortunately, Roth’s “Thanksgiving” proves to be more a main course-type spread anyway, serving up a strangely appealing old-school small-town slasher you might want a second helping of next Thanksgiving, one that’s equal parts entertaining and amusingly bloody with broad appeal.
Just like much of what you’ve seen in Roth’s “Hostel,” expect plenty of decapitated heads, exploding limbs and sliced up body parts here. It’s a madly hilarious experience you’ll want to experience in a movie theater for those communal (and perishable) screams.
And in some of the film’s more, ahem, creative torture scenes, prepare your eyeballs...

For an experiment that fell flat on its face at the box office, "Grindhouse" has left a remarkably large cultural footprint. Not only has Quentin Tarantino's half of his and Robert Rodriguez's 2007 double-feature, "Death Proof," gained greater appreciation, but also several of the fake trailers included in screenings of the duo's exploitation genre love letter have since taken on a life of their very own. Rodriguez's "Machete" trailer has birthed not one but two films, while the "Hobo with a Shotgun" trailer (a fan-made promo that mostly screened with "Grindhouse" in Canada) similarly gave rise to an actual film titled *checks notes* "Hobo with a Shotgun."
After more than 15 years of promising to turn his own "Grindhouse" faux promo, "Thanksgiving," into the real deal, writer/director Eli Roth has finally gone and done just that. The original trailer, for those unfamiliar, centers on a serial killer who...

Chinese mystery drama “Lost in the Stars” expanded in its second week on release and gave China its third biggest box office weekend of the year. That local success came as Hollywood tentpole “Indiana Jones: The Dial of Destiny” failed to land a top five place in the Middle Kingdom on its debut weekend.
“Indiana Jones” earned just $2.4 million in China, according to estimates from local data providers. It played some 25,000 screenings per day on Friday but earned less than $900,000. Exhibitors then slashed the number of sessions by half on Saturday. They further trimmed the number of playdates on Sunday when it slipped to seventh place. Consultancy, Artisan Gateway did not provide confirmed data for “Indiana Jones” in China.

Chinese mystery drama “Lost in the Stars” was the top-grossing film on the planet over the latest weekend – despite playing only a single territory.
The film earned $70.7 million (RMB502 million) between Friday and Sunday in mainland China, according to data from consultancy Artisan Gateway. That put it far and away ahead of other Chinese new releases and Hollywood’s holdovers “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” and “The Flash.”
With the Dragon Boat Festival holiday occurring on Thursday, the film was given an unusual one-day advance on the normal releasing pattern in China. Including Thursday takings, the film made a total of $98.3 million (RMB968 million).
Data from Comscore shows “Lost in the Stars” handily beating second-placed “Elemental,” which earned $49.8 million between Friday and Sunday ($31.3 million in 40 international markets and $18.5 million in North America).

Genre regular Eli Roth has another horror project coming our way – but this one won’t be nearly as brutal or bloody as the likes of Cabin Fever or Hostel. Instead, it’s some “gateway horror” entertainment that comes in the form of an animated series called Fright Krewe. Said to be aimed at “older children”, the first season of Fright Krewe will consist of ten episodes that will be released through both the Hulu and Peacock streaming services. A premiere date has not yet been announced.
The Wrap reports that Roth has teamed up with Dreamworks and author James Frey to bring this series to the screen – and they also point out that Frey is a rather controversial figure. His books A Million Little Pieces and My Friend Leonard were initially marketed as memoirs, but it was soon revealed that large portions of them were either exaggerated or made up.

Max’s first full month without ‘HBO’ in its rebranded title has a selection that kicks off summer 2023 in fine fashion. Three of the four iterations of “A Star Is Born,” including the most recent remake starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, are streaming on Max in June. The 1954 and 1976 films land June 1, while the 2018 version arrives June 8.
To prepare for Margot Robbie’s performance in “Barbie” come July, one could watch one of her more intense roles as Tonya Harding in “I, Tonya” (2017). For some lighter summer watches, viewers might consider “Dolphin Tale” (2010), “Grease” (1978), “Hairspray” (2007) or “Tooth Fairy” (2010).
“Magic Mike’s Last Dance” (2023) starring Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek Pinault lands at Max after its theatrical release in February this year. Another major theatrical release from 2022, “Avatar: The Way of Water” (2022), swims onto the streamer starting June 7.

HBO Max is no more. In its place are…HBO and Max. Warner Bros. Discovery’s big change to its premier streaming service was simply to take the “HBO” off of the name “HBO Max,” leaving just “Max.” But in announcing its list of new releases for Max in June 2023, Warner is highlighting all of the HBO content anyway. So here is everything you can expect to find on Max (including every new HBO show) this month.
Even though June 2023 is the first full month of Max’s existence without the helpful “HBO” modifier in front of it, literally all of its major original offerings are thanks to the pay cable network. June 4 sees the premiere of The Idol, the controversial TV project starring The Weeknd and written by Euphoria‘s Sam Levinson. Exclusive: Pitch Perfect and The Hustle star Rebel Wilson is set to star in action-comedy film Bride Hard from director Simon West (Expendables 2) for a Cannes market launch.
The film follows “badass secret agent Sam (Wilson) who has been tasked with one of her hardest missions yet – being a Maid of Honor for her childhood best friend”.
Screenplay was written by Shaina Steinberg from a story by Steinberg and CeCe Pleasants. WME Independent will handle worldwide sales.
Balcony 9 Productions will be producing and financing. Producers include Joel David Moore and Max Osswald (Some Other Woman), Cassian Elwes (Mudbound), and Colleen Camp (Knock Knock).
“Bride Hard combines action, adventure and comedy. These are genres I love to mix together. I’ve done it in the past with films like Expendables 2 or even going back to Con-Air and Tomb Raider,” said West. “I think audiences will love this. It operates on so many levels.

Ana de Armas is continuing her in-demand status with a slew of upcoming projects.
The 2023 Oscar nominee may have admitted that her provocative turn as Marilyn Monroe in Andrew Dominik’s “Blonde” wasn’t meant to be enjoyed, but her filmography has spoken for itself. Since breaking out stateside in 2015 erotic thriller “Knock Knock” opposite Keanu Reeves, de Armas has become a Bond girl, transformed into an American icon, and cemented her A-list status as an Academy Award nominee. She went on to appear in “Blade Runner 2049” and “Knives Out,” while also making a trio of films with co-star Chris Evans, including upcoming action comedy “Ghosted.”
The “No Time to Die” actress previously said that there is “no need” for a female take on James Bond, and perhaps it’s because as a certified action star, de Armas already is a Bond in her own right.

This Thanksgiving, it's not just turkeys that'll be getting carved up. Horror director Eli Roth is set to follow in the footsteps of "Machete Kills" filmmaker Robert Rodriguez and "Hobo With A Shotgun" director Jason Eisener, turning the fake movie trailer he made for Rodriguez's 2007 film "Grindhouse" into a real, feature-length movie. "Thanksgiving" is now set to strut its way to theaters in time for the colonialist feast day.
While Roth has yet to drop a trailer or first footage from the movie, fans of the filmmaker probably have a good idea of what to expect from the feature-length expansion of a delightfully nasty short that left audiences laughing (and flinching) back when Rodriguez's "Grindhouse" made its debut. It's too soon to tell how much "Thanksgiving" will borrow from its source material, but as the first fiction feature co-written, directed, and produced by the "Hostel" filmmaker since 2015's Keanu Reeves-led erotic thriller,...

15 years after Eli Roth's fake trailer "Thanksgiving" debuted as a part of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's "Grindhouse," the slasher is finally coming to feature film fruition. The film is in talks to have Patrick "McDreamy" Dempsey to star in an undisclosed role, but thanks to a recent report from Deadline, the "Disenchanted" star won't be alone for long. TikTok star and the leading lady of "He's All That," Addison Rae, has been tapped to join the cast in a leading role.
The original "Thanksgiving" trailer was shot like a throwback slasher about a killer who made his own carving board out of victims in a small New England town that celebrates the holiday with a little bit too much enthusiasm. There's no telling where Dempsey or Rae will fit into the fold, but considering she snagged a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix, it's doubtful Rae's presence will be small.

Addison Rae, scream queen? The TikTok star is expanding her film repertoire, joining the cast of director Eli Roth’s slasher “Thanksgiving.”
Spyglass Media is backing the thriller, which follows a killer who visits a small town in Massachusetts with the hopes of creating a carving board out of the town’s turkey-loving inhabitants. The story is based on the fake trailer that Roth made 16 years ago for Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s double feature “Grindhouse.”
Rae confirmed the news, which was first reported by Deadline, on Instagram with the caption “Let’s eat.”

Patrick Dempsey is in talks with Spyglass to star in “Thanksgiving,” multiple media outlets have reported.
Yes, that’s Eli Roth’s “Thanksgiving,” a violent slasher film based on the fake trailer from Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s double feature “Grindhouse” from 16 years ago.
Chatter has existed about turning the jokey trailer into an actual movie, with Roth having written a screenplay over a dozen years ago. Fantasy became fact when Spyglass stepped in late last year to finance the picture, with shooting to begin in Toronto next month.
While plot details are mostly concealed, it is believed that Dempsey would play a small-town sheriff in Massachusetts who must fend off a holiday-specific murder spree.

While listening to songs, it is not just music that captivates everyone’s attention. At times, lyrics in the melody have an impact on people. As independent music labels continue to grow, they have created room for original music. Osm Records, a leading record label has established itself in the Indian music industry. After the chartbuster track ‘Ek Thi Raat’, the music label is coming up with another hit track ‘Pyaar Tera 5G’.
Incorporated in 2017 by Manpreet Kaur and Himanshu Shekhar, Osm Records has some super hit songs in its library like ‘Tom Cruise’, Shaqi Balma’, ‘Single Hai G’, ‘Knock Knock’ and ‘Single Hai G’. There are many reasons why you might know Ana de Armas. The actress has made headlines over the last few years for all sorts of reasons — alongside the pandemic, Hollywood gossip fans will remember 2020 as the year of BenAna, the fleeting romance between de Armas and Ben Affleck that ended with the unceremonious tossing into a dumpster of a life-size cardboard cutout of the actress — but she is perhaps most well known for her role as the unassuming Marta Cabrera in Rian Johnson's 2019 murder mystery hit, "Knives Out."
However, prior to charming us as the shy nurse who ends up inheriting an entire fortune, de Armas was busy building a name for herself in other films. Fans may have first seen her in the 2015 psychological horror remake "Knock Knock," which stars Keanu Reeves as a man who is held captive by two women who have made a hobby out...

Quentin Tarantino is one of the most respected working filmmakers today, but why exactly are so many of his films so widely well-received? Are all of his ideas brilliant from the start, or does he just have a good nose for sniffing out the duds? The director, who also pens much of his work himself, has shed some light on his writing process. He has to trust his own intuition as an artist, but he is never afraid to phone a friend.
Tarantino is responsible for some of the most popular films of the last few decades, from his debut "Reservoir Dogs" to the star-studded epic "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." He has a strong work ethic, but not everything that he writes makes it onto the big screen. In fact, many of his words never even make it onto a computer screen. Fifty years ago, two unknown filmmakers named Wes Craven and Sean Cunningham released their low-budget thriller “Last House on the Left.” Or, given its effect on audiences, maybe it’s more accurate to say they unleashed the film. Either way, the horror genre was never the same: Craven, who was making his feature directorial debut with “Last House,” went on to helm several of the smartest, scariest, and most imitated horror films of all time, including “The Hills Have Eyes,” “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” and “Scream.” Cunningham, his producer, would exert an equally pervasive influence on the genre as the director of the original “Friday the 13th.” Ironically, neither filmmaker had a strong desire to make horror movies. “I do not think Sean or Wes had any personal affinity for horror or set out to make an influential mark on the genre,” David Szulkin, author of “Wes Craven’s...

For the past two decades, Eli Roth has certainly established himself as one of the essential voices in horror. His debut feature Cabin Fever shocked audiences with skin-crawling gore and a twisted sense of humor. Both volumes of Hostel hallmarked a new wave of extreme horror. The Green Inferno, Death Wish, and Knock Knock put a modern lens on past genre tropes. And he even tossed a few tricks and treats to the kids with The House with the Clock in Its Walls.
As a producer, he’s been similarly unstoppable, elevating up and coming filmmakers like Ti West and Jon Watts, while also creating one of the first horror series to ever hit a streaming platform with the gory Hemlock Grove. If someone told me a decade ago that the woman who would play Marilyn Monroe in a fictionalized biopic of her life would have the best chance of being the one Latina woman nominated at this year’s Oscars for best actress, I would have asked, “where is Ashton Kutcher? Because clearly, I’m on ‘Punk’d’?”
But what could have seemed like a fever dream may soon become reality, Ana de Armas has done the impossible with her intoxicating portrayal of the classic starlet in Andrew Dominik’s “Blonde,” and the Academy Awards may fall under her spell.
If she is nominated for best actress, she would be only the fifth Latina ever to be nominated in the category in 95 years. She would follow Brazilian Fernanda Montenegro for “Central Station” (1998), Mexican Salma Hayek for “Frida” (2002), Colombian Catalina Sandino Moreno for “Maria Full of Grace” (2004) and Mexican Yalitza Aparicio for...

Ana de Armas is stepping into arguably the biggest role of her career with her upcoming turn as Marilyn Monroe in Andrew Dominik’s Blonde. It may really be that intangible moment where she transitions from actor to star, complete with a potential Oscar nomination on the horizon, but the Cuban-born thespian came a long way to get to the apex of the movie industry, going from playing exclusively Spanish-speaking roles to starring in some of the biggest American productions on the planet.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the most significant roles de Armas played on her climb to the top of the movie world, as well as a peek at where we’ll be able to see her on the big screen in the future.

Playing a figure as distinct as Marilyn Monroe is going to be fraught under the best of circumstances. An actor must carefully consider their approach. Does one, for instance, attempt a straight imitation of Monroe? Is it better to look and sound correct, even if it's to the detriment of bringing one's own unique acting impulses into the equation? Or does one stray far from strict accuracy, allowing themselves to emote on a broader canvas, inviting accusations of historical infidelity?
These questions weighed heavily on Ana de Armas who played Monroe in Andrew Dominick's upcoming Netflix film "Blonde." De Armas, star of "Knock Knock," "Knives Out," and featured in a notable fight sequence in "No Time to Die," plays a highly fictionalized version of Monroe in a stylized retelling of the star's life and death. Reviews for "Blonde" are already mixed, with some critics praising its willingness to take risks,...

Just like Marilyn Monroe, Ana de Armas knows she cannot control what America does with her body.
De Armas stars as the late bombshell in Andrew Dominik’s “Blonde,” an Nc-17 portrait of the iconic film star. De Armas bares all for the film, emotionally and physically, spending long sequences topless and, at one point, fully nude.
“I did things in this movie I would have never done for anyone else, ever,” de Armas told Variety. “I did it for her, and I did it for Andrew.”
While de Armas previously said she was baffled by the Nc-17 rating for the Netflix film, streaming September 28, the “No Time to Die” alum can anticipate which sequences will “go viral” because of her nudity, much like in her 2015 feature “Knock Knock” opposite Keanu Reeves.
“I know what’s going to go viral, and it’s disgusting,” de Armas explained. “It’s upsetting just to think about it.

Blonde director Andrew Dominik and his star Ana De Armas very much felt the presence of Marilyn Monroe while making the long-awaited biopic that has its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival tonight.
Dominik told the Lido press corps this afternoon, “We were kind of chasing her ghost around… Her dust is everywhere in Los Angeles.”

Said De Armas, “I truly believe that she was very close to us, she was with us… She was all I thought about, she was all I dreamed about, she was all I could talk about. She was with me and it was beautiful. I think she was happy… Being in the same places that she was, filming in her house, it was a very strong sensation there was something in the air and I think she was approving of what we were doing.”

Music composer Himesh Reshammiya says the song ‘Tuk Tuk’ from the upcoming film ‘Middle Class Love’ was conceptualised to give a youthful vibe to the movie. Music composer Himesh Reshammiya has doubled up as a singer for the track as he is joined by playback singer Payal Dev behind the mic.
Talking about the track, Himesh said, “‘Tuk Tuk’ is a fun catchy number which is sure to make you tap your feet. The narrative of the film had to be taken forward with two friends bonding and having a great time without a care in the world and hence the song was conceptualised to give a youthful vibe. I had a blast composing and singing this song.”
The track released on Thursday. The song captures young romance in the narrative of the film which stars Prit Kamani and Eisha Singh.
