The tune Ben is whistling in the beginning is an old civil war song entitled "Lorena".
Originally the marshal was to be played by Wes Bowman and Adam Dufour was to play the Sheriff, but at the last minute, due to work and scheduling conflicts, the two men had to switch roles.
The house the Cleghorn family moves into at the end is the home of Jacob and Adam Dufour, who played Ben and the Marshal, respectively.
In the modern-day scenes, Daniel Cleghorn wears a shirt that says "I do my own stunts" with a picture of a guy falling off a horse. This is a reference to the scene when his character Sam falls off his horse in the western part of the movie, which was filmed several months before. The shirt was given to him as a gag gift from Kristin Dufour, and he liked it so much he wore it for the film.
The first feature film by Heritage Production Films.
