The Courage of Vic
Hitchcoc21 December 2018
There is a bit of happenstance here, primarily the whole thing with the bear and the accident precisely where these nuts are, is hard to swallow. But after I forgave them for that, I became totally involved here. What was most intriguing to me is the way Vic, knowing she had nothing to lose, gets in the face of Chance, the survivalist. The other thing is the tension that the writers have created here. And, I can't wait for the next episode.

It's getting harder to fight those feels...

Warning: Spoilers
This episode delivered so much of what I cant wait to see be fleshed out more on the show. The backdrop of the episode being that Vic and her husband are held hostage by a survivalist cult in the woods while trying to take a romantic getaway to save their failing marriage. But the real meat and potatoes of the episode is Vic's ever rising feelings for Walt! Want spoilers you say?!! OK well there were 2 main instances in the episode in which i use to support my claim. 1. When Vic and her husband we're locked up in cellar by the insane cult leader Chance...he dropped a body bag down in the cellar with them. Vic proceeds to rush to the body bad and goes completely catatonic at the possibility of it being Walt. "It's Love!" Her husband notices this as well and doesn't seem all to happy or surprised by it either. 2. Walt comes to save the day and gets Vic and her husband out of harms way, while staying behind to have a good ol western stand off with the crazed cult leader Chance. Camera pans in on Vic's face while she is being driven away ...and listens to the gun shots in the distance. Shes crying yet again at the possibility that Walt may not make it out alive. What does she do, you ask? Well this is Vic...she gets out the freakin car and makes her way back to Walt. If shes too late to save him , she'll definitely make whoever killed the man she loves pay. I can't wait for Walt and Vic to become an official couple on the show!

Superb

Warning: Spoilers
This was another excellent show. This episode had everyone playing second fiddle to Vic, they had to. This week Vic managed to step in some seriously bad juju - whatever that means. You see, Sean, her husband, decided to shuttle Vic away on some kind of 'surprise' vacation. Boy oh boy did she get a surprise. Vic and husband ended up as reluctant guests of some weird gaggle of vicious nut-cases. From that point on, every minute of this episode the show's suspense kept breeding herd after herd of goose-bumps. This is definitely a show that has all cylinders firing. Each cast member can hold their own; the scripts are always brilliant and show's overall orchestration is superb – week after week. I know this is not everyone's cup of tea…but right now…'Longmire' is top-shelf stuff for me. Keep up the outstanding work…everyone. Thank you for delivering fantastic entertainment.

R U Kidding Me?

Somewhere deep in the bowels of the IMDb you will find a series review of Longmire by this writer, and, the record will clearly show, it is an excellent review. (IE, the show is rated excellent, the quality of the review of course is in the eye of the beholder.) Significantly the review was written early on during a viewing of Season 1. What innocent times those were! Very much in the tradition of the typically dry but character-driven English mysteries, which change from week to week, the show was astonishing for what it was not. It was not showy, it was not over the top, the writing was not manipulative, and you did not necessarily need to watch each episode in succession to appreciate the next one.

Well those days are gone.

As soon as the producers realized they had a hit on their hands they did what ever every production company since the dawn of TV has done- they changed up the formula to juice the audience, much like you would juice an addict. Of course in the process the essence of the show disappeared, but no matter. In the pursuit of the higher dollar for residuals and digital rights, all's fair.

This episode is terrible and I wonder if the other reviewers who liked it even bothered to watch the first season? Cross a daytime soap opera with LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT and you will find that you have left Longmire's quaint little county and are now in Profitville, USA.

Ugh.

Seriously?

This is the first poorly written episode we've watched in the series. Something has changed and we aren't apprised. Too many ridiculous coincidences.

This is a torture based episode

Unless you like torture don't watch it. I like the show I hate watching torture. This brings together a few threads but not much, and far too little to justify the torture.
