Jane resumes her career as she becomes part of a vice squad. She is immediately thrust into an investigation of child prostitution (they call them rent boys). One particular young man has been murdered, and as she investigates, she comes to realize how pervasive this stuff is. There is one particular character who runs that show and seems to be teflon. He covers his tracks and all effort to do anything about him seem to fail. Meanwhile, there are frightened street boys who have to do horrible things just to live. We are also shown the lives of what are either transvestites or trans-sexuals. Everything is sort of connected. What we learn is that there is something going on in the police department that is also associated with these activities. We are also let in on a significant fact as the episode ends. Mirren is again striking in her role.
