Love is always beautiful and this is a story of love
abahr-3155431 March 2019
"We" might look just a story of love. Story of young immigrant who is looking for his soulmate but it is much more than that. It is a story of how an immigrant is looking for acceptance, friends, work, and other things in a new community. The main character of the film is Ethan, who is a young man from Afghanistan seeking for a better life in Canada. Unfortunately, Afghanistan suffered from different invasions in history and this made many Afghan refugees. Ethan is one of them, who lost his parents when he was a kid. Now, he is looking for love like any other adults. The story is different for him because he did not feel love of parents as a kid. The film has a great storyline and a definite goal. Story is well designed and impressive. Cinematography of the film is great. "We" is a story that all of us might seek in our real life looking for acceptance and chances in a new community. I strongly recommended this film.

Choices in love aren't easy but the right partner brings us peace of mind.
I really enjoyed this film and I recommend everyone go see it. The story teaches us about relationships and just how difficult it is to find the right one. Regardless, of your age or race, we can all relate to the obstacles associated with finding that perfect someone to share our lives with. It also made me realize how difficult it is to turn the page and to let go, even when we know that it's not the right person, but when we finally move on, we are so much better off.

Great job Mani! 👍👍👍👍👍

Gripping Performance Entire Cast

The heart does not pump blood only, it radiates electromagnetic frequencies and has a mind of its own. Love is experienced in various emotional states: passionate, romantic, consummate and several others, unconditional being the highest which emanates from saints, suffis and prophets. In addition, each culture perceives it according to their dogmas and rituals which they've been programmed with for centuries. For instance in Pashto which Ethan speaks and the national language of Afghanistan, there's no phrase as "I love you", in Dari (classical Farsi) there is. The clock is ticking and Ethan has to start a family, but experiences cognitive dissonance. Caught between the Afghan traditions of arranged marriage and the American way of meeting the love of his life. Should he make his family happy and marry an Afghan girl or have his heart meet his soul mate and live the lives of their dreams? Through trial and error, date after date, will his heart, mind or soul decide for Ethan? The heart craves romantic and passionate love which are illusions and mere projections of one's own realities, till the layers begin to peel away with time. Two vernacular souls experience joy by sharing the same music, culture, religion, language, etc. The mind craves lusts, desires, luscious and voluptuous physical characteristics.

Mani Nasry takes us on a roller coaster ride, laughters, cries, empathizing not only with Ethan, but all the characters in his beautiful work of art. Every cast member delivered an on point performance; a tear jerker for sure. When the film is in its third act, you don't want it to end, hoping for more acts, hoping Mani broke the traditional three-act formula like Woody Allan.

The heart craves Romantic and passionate love, which r illusions, the pure form of love is unconditional. Partners Usually don't have that for one another - The soul is gratified by two souls sharing the same music, culture, religion, language and so forth - The mind craves lusts, desires and physical attraction, luscious & voluptuous

Bravo Mr. Nasry!

I really liked this film, it was very honest. I'm sure a lot of Canadians can relate to it. I liked the number of cultures that were represented. I would suggest it for all ages/backgrounds. Enjoy!

Great movie

The story of love is everlasting and depicted in the most beautiful way in this movie. The leading character is in dilemma with himself and what possible future with each different woman might look like and what would be most fulfilling relationship. He decided to listen to his heart against all odds that differences of religion, race, ethnicity or background and upbringing can create. In fact, he showed that all differences become insignificant as dividing factor, but even turned into something that enriches relationship when two people find their hearts truly in love.

we (2019)

Who is Ethan? Who has immigrated from Afghanistan and has lost touch with his identity? The confusion of religion vs scientific upbringing. We is a passionate humanist statement that we are related to one another, no matter what skin tone or ethnicity or cultures. The film breaks boundaries between and work on uniting each other without exterior judgement.

What is this movie? To give opportunity to people from all over the world to play a leading part, to raise awareness that we are human beings. This is fictional film but reads as a documentary.

When Ethan arrives in Canada, we are immediately immersed into his mind and what has happened to him, Ethan has not only lost his family but his culture and identity. He goes out to find love and the better side of life through not getting caught up in the material world.

A film that united us.

Warning: Spoilers
This film gives reflection what first and second generation go through of finding where to fit in the new society, finding love and happiness, re-discovery their deep roots of themselves from morals and values. Even though, the world category's you something you not and you have consisting prove yourself, but you lose yourself in the journey.

I felt the characters pain when you feel the world is against you, and you trying best not to have a meltdown in the middle of the park. This film is perfect for this era that is going on the world and open discussion that has been avoid so many years.

The main character Ethan tried to show the real face of Toronto in this movie where you can meet people from different backgrounds and different ethnicities and there is no difference between them. This film also shows beautiful places in Toronto which can be a positive step for attracting tourists
