Yes, it's different than most IASIP episodes and doesn't have as many sharp LOL moments that we're used to from Sunny, but it's still entertaining, hilarious, and brilliant. The music is spectacular. The acting is spot on. The story is an excellent social commentary on some aspects of what it's like to be black in America, i.e. when Dennis comments how it's hard to tell when you're being discriminated against, or "I guess we just found out a new rule." Then, in keeping with the theme of Always Sunny, the gang doesn't actually learn any of these lessons, but maybe we do? A little?
I'm seeing a lot of hate for this episode. It seems the hate is more from people simply not enjoying the musical aspect and not liking how it's a bit different than most other IASIP episodes. However, I haven't seen a lot of people who hate because they think it's racist, probably because it's really not IMHO.
On the other hand, the episode gets a lot of love. So, I guess it's a love it or hate it kind of episode. I loved it.
